This month, we shine the spotlight on Maude Cole, who has been part of the Brightondale family for three years. Her heart for the elderly shows in everything she does.

Originally from Liberia, Maude has always found ways to bless and support the elderly—whether financially, spiritually, or emotionally. That compassion continues to
guide her work here each day.

She lovingly cared for her own mother until her passing, and she carries that same
devotion into her role. As Maude puts it: “It is not about the money, but the positive
impact that you make in the lives of people every day.”

Her goal is simple yet powerful—bringing joy and sunshine to our residents, whether
she’s cleaning an apartment or sharing a kind word in the hallways.

When she’s not at work, Maude enjoys gardening and spending time with her grandchildren, who fill her days with laughter and love.

It can be hard for adult children to understand what their parents are going through as they age, because they haven't gone through it themselves. Parents may feel that lack of empathy keenly.

As people age, they may be surprised to find that younger folks don't understand what they're going through, but adult children or caretakers can do a lot to help older people adjust to a new reality.
