As we wrap up Prevention Month, we would like to take a moment to reflect on our Hoops for Homeless basketball tournament! πŸ€

It was truly inspiring to witness the New Britain community unite in support of youth homelessness, while students showcased their basketball talents to fundraise for initiatives that address homelessness among children and families in New Britain.

A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, players, and volunteers for making this event a remarkable success!

It's Red Ribbon Week, an annual drug, alcohol, and to***co prevention initiative! The theme for 2025 is β€œLife Is A Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free,” highlighting how healthy, drug-free choices help build a meaningful life, one piece at a time.

This year, we celebrated Red Ribbon Week over the course of three events at Pulaski, DiLoreto, and Slade middle schools. Students enjoyed bounce houses, music, games, and candy as they signed petitions to BEE drug free!

Red Ribbon Week is also a kickoff for afterschool events led by our very own youth leaders!

πŸ’‘ In honor of Substance Use and Misuse Prevention Month and Lights On Afterschool, we want to shine a light on the vital role that afterschool programs play in youth prevention efforts! Lights On Afterschool is a nationwide celebration of afterschool programs and their positive effects on students, families, and communities.

🍎 Afterschool programs offer safe and enjoyable spaces for students to develop skills, explore interests, and build friendships. Afterschool activities can improve a student's overall health and help prevent risky behaviors, such as substance use.

🎨 Reminder: American Savings Foundation is hosting a Lights On Afterschool Poster Contest, with a deadline of October 23, 2025.
Show your support for your favorite afterschool program!
