Klingberg Family Centers

Klingberg Family Centers Founded in 1903, Klingberg Family Centers is a private nonprofit serving children and families throughout Connecticut.

Our mission is to help build healing relationships that empower children and families to reach their full potential. Founded in 1903, Klingberg Family Centers is a private, nonprofit multi-service agency providing help to thousands of persons across Connecticut each year. Our goal is to extend hope and healing to children and families whose lives have been traumatized by abuse and/or neglect in its various forms, severe family problems and mental health issues. Through an array of group care, special education, foster care and community programs, children and parents are given the encouragement and skills they need to function more effectively at home, in school and in their community. Our main campus is located in New Britain, Connecticut. We also offer a wide range of community services from our office in Hartford.

What an inspiring day at Raymond Hill School!

School can be a place of frustration and failure for students with special education needs. Capturing the interest of children and inspiring them to engage in the learning process offers a fresh start.

Art class at Raymond Hill School isn't just a classroom, it can also be a safe outlet to express feelings they may not yet have words for, gives them a sense of accomplishment, and can boost their overall confidence.

Last week some of our students shared some of those accomplishments and exhibited their incredible artwork. Klingberg Family Centers' staff were invited down to take a peek, and we were thrilled to see their creativity on display. We’re already excited to see the next wave of creativity they’ll bring.

If the gentleman in this video looks familiar, that's because it's Klingberg Family Centers' own Douglas Montalvo Mussenden, our Klingberg Family Pantry coordinator! Doug, like many other pantry/food bank coordinators around the country, has been working overtime to ensure that families in our community facing food insecurity are able to access both fresh and non-perishable food items. We're grateful to be an agency partner of Connecticut Foodshare; and thankful for members of the public who have also stepped up with personal donations to support their neighbors.

For more information on the Klingberg Family Pantry, and how you can help, please visit: www.klingberg.org.

Our pantry shelves are running low!

Right now, many families are struggling as future SNAP benefits remain uncertain, and more people are turning to our food pantry for help. If you are able, please consider donating non-perishable food items like canned goods, pasta, rice, and pantry staples, or helping our pantry by making a monetary contribution so we can secure needed items.

Every can, every dollar, every act of kindness helps put food on a family’s table. Let’s come together as a community and help our neighbors.

Donated items can be dropped off at Klingberg Family Centers, at 370 Linwood Street, New Britain, CT.
