We recognize that lawyers who are also military veterans may have special mental health needs stemming from a combination of service-related trauma and the high-stress, adversarial nature of the legal profession. Veterans may disproportionately experience conditions like PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders, while the legal field itself is associated with high rates of these same issues.
Both military culture and the legal profession's culture can pose barriers to seeking help. Stigma surrounding mental health issues in military settings may discourage veterans from seeking treatment. In the legal profession, an environment that often "downplays, if not ignores" extra-legal, emotional concerns may also inhibit help-seeking behaviors.

Helplines:
Veterans Crisis Line: Offers 24/7 confidential support for all veterans. Call or text 988 and Press 1, or chat online at veteranscrisisline.net.

Sources:
Studies published in journals such as PLOS ONE and the Military Law Review analyze mental health challenges among attorneys and veterans, providing empirical data on prevalence rates and specific stressors.

Time to change the clocks again. It is important that you recognize the change, and how it affects your physical and mental health. Every year, there are discussions about ending this time change, but we still have it.

It's time for most of America to move clocks back on Sunday. Daylight saving time ends in the U.S. at 2 a.m. local time, which means setting your clock back an hour.
