Delaware National Guard Sexual Assault Prevention and Response - SAPR

The DE National Guard SAPR/SHARP is designed to handle restricted and unrestricted cases of sexual assault.

The Delaware National Guard Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Program has a team of expert providers dedicated to helping Military and DoD victim/survivors navigate the medical, legal and criminal justice systems. The office on JFHQ will be supported by staff including: a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) and a victim advocate.

So when someone freely agrees and feels respected – how is that not sexy?

We may not get along with someone, or we may think they aren't a good person, but that doesn't mean we should doubt their experience. Someone can be displaying signs of a mental illness, but that doesn't mean something traumatic couldn't, or shouldn't have happened to them. Sexual violence is never, ever deserved.

How we feel about sexual violence and survivors shouldn't be conditional.

Respect & Autonomy - It honors a person's right to self-determination and control over their own body and decisions.

Safety & Trust - It creates a secure environment where individuals feel safe and respected, fostering deeper connections.

Clarity & Communication - It requires clear, open communication about boundaries, making interactions less ambiguous and more honest.

Prevents Harm - It's the legal and ethical standard to prevent sexual assault, harassment, and any non-consensual touch or action.

Empowerment - It empowers individuals to say "yes," "no," or "stop" at any time, even if they've agreed before.

The Delaware National Guard SAPR Team welcomed the Delaware Alliance Against Sexual Violence - DAASV today for an open and collaborative discussion on the vital roles both men and women play in preventing and addressing sexual violence. Bringing together voices from both the military and civilian communities, the conversation highlighted the power of unity and shared responsibility. Together, we can build a strong alliance—one where men and women stand side by side in the fight to end sexual assault.
