Well Happy Sunday Wellness Tribe!

I had a video for you all, but unfortunately, I hit the photo button instead of the video button. Doh! 😖. So unfortunately I don’t have a video to show you!

What the video showed was a 1. smoked brisket (my first). 2. Pickled beet greens with quinoa 3. Sautéed red cabbage

Beet greens 🥬 are excellent to help purge and support the liver and gallbladder. Eating different colors of food actually has massive benefits for the body. Diversity of color increases the diversity of your microbiome. 👊🏽

Happy Sunday Wellness Tribe!

This is one of my favorite dishes for the winter time. Rice congee, a traditional Asian breakfast that is warm, nourishing and nutritious. 💥

In Chinese medicine eating a warm breakfast is much better for your digestion and will not harm the functions of the spleen and stomach, which love warm foods🔥 in the morning. 😉

We have been sold a lie when it comes to eating a cold sugary breakfast. It will spike your blood sugar and increase inflammation leaning to all sorts of metabolic issues like diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease - which should called Type 3 diabetes. 💩

I love to add butternut squash and hot sauce to give it that umami.

if you want more information on how to improve your health with food, call our office.

Happy Sunday Wellness Tribe!

I hope you all are enjoying the light snowfall and slightly longer days 👏🌞(yes I am counting!).

Let me tell you. I ❤️ burgers. This was a 1/4lb smash burger made with Burns Angus Farm ground beef with pepper jack goat cheese, leftover sautéed cabbage on a gluten free Schar bun. (One of the best I’ve tried and you can get it at Giant Eagle) 🤩

Local, grass-fed 🐂 makes a HUGE difference in quality, taste and nutrition. High in omega 3 red meat and cholesterol are NOT the boogeyman. In fact international studies show higher cholesterol levels may actually help you live longer!

Good afternoon Wellness Tribe,

‼️‼️Don’t throw away that half lemon. I use mine plus some coarse sea salt to clean my counters, stainless and carbon steel pans, sinks, cutting boards and cast iron.

The gentle scouring action of sea salt and the citric acid of lemons deodorizes, disinfects, cuts grease and removes stains and is the perfect way to maximize dollars! 🍋🧂

Happy New Year Tribe!

I hope that you all have HEALTHY and PROSPEROUS new year. Keep your head up and give thanks to God. Thru HIM all things are possible. 🙏🏻❤️

I make this 💥AMAZING💥beef stew in the winter. It’s my all time favorite. If you’ve never used ox tail then this is your sign. It will be the best thing you make all winter. If you can get local grass fed beef. It’s better for you and you support local farmers and the economy. 👊🏽👊🏽

🤩Jamie Oliver’s Ox Tail Soup - https://youtu.be/qOIHZpKyzMs?si=KL6pZGpBbMIveOvg

I sometimes put some Asian spices in it like chili garlic crunch or Korean gochujang chili oil when I want to mix it up on different days so I don’t get bored of it! One day I might put it over mashed sweet potatoes and the next by itself and the next day in a noodle soup.

Good evening Wellness Tribe!

I’m back in yer kitchen. I got a few consecutive day to relax, cook and use up some leftovers! 😍

I hate wasting food so I made my almost famous kitchen sink soup that even gets thumbs up from my 17 yr old daughter 🤩👏

Start with mirepoix- carrots celery onions - sauté with left over veggies. I used broccoli and spinach. Put into blender with chicken stock and spices of your choice. Today I used garam masala 💋

What's up Wellness Tribe?

I love pizza, but I don’t always enjoy eating that much wheat gluten. If I eat too much it kind of makes me feel heavy and foggy. So I tried a sweet potato crust - it wasn’t the same BUT it did satisfy my pizza craving.

Bake a sweet potato and use half as the “dough”. Smash to desired thinness. The thinner the better and top with your favorite toppings. It works in a pinch if you’re watching your carbs!

So recently a high-profile Steeler, TJ Watt, received dry needling and got a punctured lung as a result of it. Considering his size and his musculature this should have never happened. It is nothing short of gross incompetence.

Acupuncture is a type of dry needling however acupuncture schooling and licensure requires thousands of didactic and clinical hours. Most physical therapists (PT's) who practice dry needling take a few weekend courses - perhaps 56 hours total. In PA this is not within their scope of practice. The term dry needling is used by PT's and athletic trainers to avoid using the term acupuncture. Although not confirmed, it is most likely that TJ's injury occurred at the hands of a PT or athletic trainer.

Patrick Queen, an inside linebacker for the Steelers, prefers acupuncture over dry needling because he knows that acupuncturists receive vastly different and greater education when it comes to needling techniques.

As a western PA native and lifelong Steelers fan I hope that TJ makes a swift and full recovery and that he is back to sacking quarterbacks very soon.

A fridge full of locally sourced beef and lamb is my kind of wealth. You can find 100% grass fed beef and lamb at Burns Angus Farm.

I’ve known Audrene for many decades and her parents welcomed us to New Castle when we first arrived. They were the kindest, warmest and most genuine people I had ever met. Audrene didn’t fall far from that tree and their product is some of the best I have eaten. Check them out!

Grass fed beef is actually high in omega-3 fatty acids, a potent anti-inflammatory. locally grown foods are also better tasting and high and nutrient value because they are shipped over hundreds of miles. Plus you’ll be supporting hard working farmers.
