These next couple of weeks are an incredible time to spend with family members- furry and otherwise. A lot of new toys will be introduced, and if pet parents aren't careful they could lead to an unexpected vet visit.

Share this graphic with your pet owners to ensure that dogs and cats have fun and stay safe with their new presents:

✅ Safe
--> Durable toys made for pets (chew-resistant for dogs, claw-friendly for cats)
--> Toys without small parts that can be swallowed
--> Pet-friendly puzzle games to keep their minds active
--> Soft, washable toys to snuggle (especially for puppies and kittens- not for active chewers)

🚫 Unsafe
--> Toys with strings, ribbons, or tinsel that can cause blockages if ingested
--> Small or breakable items (like LEGOs) that aren't designed for pets
--> Human toys with sharp edges or toxic materials

Remind every client to call or email your practice if they have any concerns.

This week is a joyful time for pet owners. Our pets' curiosity with these new holiday trappings and gifts can get the better of them if we're not careful, though, and lead to an unexpected trip to the vet.

Share this graphic and these tips with your clients to help ensure that everyone has a great "howl"iday.

>1. Prevent poisoning from ingredients like chocolate onions, and certain nuts
>2. Keep poinsettias, holly, and mistletoe out of reach
>3. Conceal or secure cords to prevent electrical shock or any choking hazards
>4. Secure the Christmas tree to prevent it from falling over
>5. Keep lit candles on high, stable surfaces away from wagging tails and paws

Our Clinic of the Week is Bell Veterinary Care in Skagit County, WA!

Dr. Elena Bell (right) and Shireen run this wonderful mobile practice that focuses on pet preventative care and end-of-life services in the comfort of their clients' and patients' homes.

From quality of life consultations to hospice and aftercare, Bell Mobile prioritizes the safety and comfort of their patients while allowing owners more time to ask questions and participate directly in their pet’s care in a peaceful, familiar, and relaxed environment.

They recently added a PTX-IQ therapy laser, a powerful and mobile class IV laser that allows them to treat over 80 acute and chronic conditions non-invasively. Dr. Bell and Shireen took the occasion to pose with the laser and Elena's dog Tofu.

One of the most common ways that vets use laser therapy is for post-dental procedure patients to help reduce swelling and pain. Dr. Arielle Schoenlien from Queenstown Veterinary Clinic talks about the benefits using laser therapy on these patients in this new testimonial.
