MeadowWood Behavioral Health Hospital MeadowWood Behavioral Health System offers mental health and addiction treatment, tailored to the individual needs of Adolescents, adults and seniors.

Meadowwood Behavioral Health System offers adolescent, adult and older adult patients a safe and comfortable environment where the stress of everyday life can be left behind and patients can focus on the healing process. Our highly qualified staff has years of experience in providing patients with the skills needed to overcome substance abuse disorders as well as a multitude of mental health problems. At Meadowwood, we believe that each patient is unique. Our staff works closely with patients and their families in order to understand the specific issues that the patient is facing in order to create an individualized treatment plan. The personalized treatment plan will focus on treating the whole person and not the symptoms of the illness. At Meadowwood, we work hard to ensure that each of our patients leaves ready to live a healthy life and enjoy freedom from addiction.

Our MeadowWood Business Development Team joined the MAPs (Marketing & Admission Professionals) meeting for Kent and Sussex County, hosted by Westminster Village in Dover. We were proud to be represented in the leadership of this group, with our own Julie serving as co-chair and unofficially embracing her role as Mrs. Claus for the day.

MAPs brings together professionals across Delaware who support adults and seniors through a wide range of services, including healthcare, behavioral health, housing, rehabilitation, nonprofit support, and essential community resources. We are grateful to collaborate with so many dedicated partners who share a commitment to serving our community.

Last week, our business development representative, Judy, hosted Brian Perez from Pyramid Healthcare for an educational Lunch & Learn with our social services team. The session gave staff valuable insight into additional resources and support options they can use when planning for patient discharge. Thanks for coming out, Brian!

Last week, MeadowWood Behavioral Health Hospital was proud to be a sponsor of the 29th Annual Delaware Healthcare Forum.

Coordinated by the Delaware Healthcare Association and offered in partnership with the American College of Healthcare Executives and Bayhealth, this long-standing event brought together policymakers and healthcare professionals from hospitals, health systems, and across the broader healthcare community.

It was a full day of thoughtful conversation, interactive learning, and insightful panels focused on the future of healthcare. We’re grateful to have been part of the dialogue and to support collaboration that helps strengthen care for the communities we serve.

MeadowWood Behavioral Health Hospital was grateful to join a We Work For Health Delaware sponsored advocacy and networking trip to Washington, DC. This marked our third year attending, and it was another meaningful day spent with people who are passionate about supporting Delaware’s most vulnerable communities.

Our group connected with members of Delaware’s congressional delegation and their staff through meetings and conversations. We also had the opportunity to meet with United States Representative Sarah McBride of Delaware, reinforcing the importance of advocacy and collaboration at the federal level.

The day concluded at Taste of Delaware in DC with Delaware’s congressional delegation, celebrating our state and the work being done on behalf of those we serve.

On Wednesday, Sara had the opportunity to represent MeadowWood at Trauma Education Day, and she loved every minute of it. The Wilmington Hospital Trauma Team curated a full day of powerful presentations, hands on learning, and some fantastic mocktails. Every moment was centered around one goal: giving people the tools and knowledge to save lives.

At MeadowWood, we love seeing our team bring kindness and energy into the community. Last week, Julie had one of those heartwarming days that remind us why small acts of service matter so much.

She called the Mot Senior Center before her visit and spoke with the Executive Director, who was arranging last minute volunteers to peel apples. When jokingly asked if she could help, Julie shared that she was just a mile away and would be there to lend a hand. What followed were wonderful conversations with fellow volunteers and a day full of connection and joy.

The apples they peeled were turned into apple dumplings and apple crisp for the Winter Festival last weekend, showing that a small act of service can create big smiles, new memories, and dessert.

Here was MeadowWood's wreath for the silent auction at the Annual State Street Wreath Stroll hosted by State Street Assisted Living! The event benefited Code Purple and the Alzheimer’s Foundation. We called our wreath “Holiday Café." All the coffee and tea K-cups could be removed while still leaving a beautiful silver and blue light-up display. It was such a joy to take part in a fundraiser that brought so many people together for a great cause and got us in the holiday spirit.

We love it when our teams come together! Recently, Aly, a Business Development Representative from our regional sister hospital Tower Behavioral Health in Reading, visited us all the way in Delaware!

She met with Erin, our Director of Business Development, to learn more about our hospital and how we support families in the region. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, share insights, and strengthen collaboration between our sister hospitals.

Our Story

MeadowWood Behavioral Health System, located in New Castle, Delaware, is a 120-bed psychiatric and addiction treatment facility located on 11 private acres. We are a top provider for adolescent, adult, and geriatric mental health and substance abuse treatment services in the area. As a psychiatric and addiction detox treatment facility, we offer a safe and comfortable environment where patients can leave the stress of the outside world behind and focus completely on their recovery.

Our entire staff is committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to all individuals who come to us looking for a higher quality of life. As trained behavioral health professionals, we coordinate individualized psychiatric treatment plans and safe detox programs with health care providers, family members, and other community supports. Our physician-led team of behavioral health clinical professionals focuses on treating each person individually rather than as a member of a group. We do not simply treat the symptoms afflicting our patients, we treat the entire person as a whole. Additionally, we believe that by keeping open communication between clinical team members, our patients, and the patient’s families, we are able to provide exceptional customer service that ensures the focus is always on our patients in helping them find long-lasting, successful recovery.
