Women’s History Month invites us to celebrate the leadership and determination of women who have shaped modern healthcare. Their expertise and compassion continue to guide progress and inspire future generations. From direct patient care to operational leadership, women are central to meaningful change.

In rehabilitation settings, women have championed innovation and patient centered care that promotes independence and long term success. We recognize and appreciate the women on our team and in our community whose dedication supports healing every day.

Spring is OFFICIALLY in the air! With warmer weather and longer days comes more opportunity to network with other great organizations in our community. Seizing the moment, Julie from Business Development attended the "First Day of Spring" Networking event at Paramount Senior Living Center in Newark.

In addition to connecting with so many amazing organizations, she had the chance to chat with their 101-year-old resident, who reminded her that age is just a number and a good sense of humor is timeless.

Last week, MeadowWood was proud to participate in this week’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training hosted by NAMI Delaware. Officers from departments across the state came together to build skills in de-escalation and compassionate response to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

We were honored to provide resources alongside other members of the continuum of care and are grateful to the 37 officers dedicated to creating safer, more supportive outcomes for our community.

MeadowWood is proud to celebrate one of our own, Tamaya “May” Allen, RN, on her nomination to the 2026 Oasis Hall of Fame!

May is a mentor, a strong charge nurse, a true patient advocate, and above all, a genuinely kind person. Her work makes a difference every day. If you have a moment, listen to her acceptance speech. It is incredibly powerful. Congratulations, May!

Our Story

MeadowWood Behavioral Health System, located in New Castle, Delaware, is a 120-bed psychiatric and addiction treatment facility located on 11 private acres. We are a top provider for adolescent, adult, and geriatric mental health and substance abuse treatment services in the area. As a psychiatric and addiction detox treatment facility, we offer a safe and comfortable environment where patients can leave the stress of the outside world behind and focus completely on their recovery.

Our entire staff is committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to all individuals who come to us looking for a higher quality of life. As trained behavioral health professionals, we coordinate individualized psychiatric treatment plans and safe detox programs with health care providers, family members, and other community supports. Our physician-led team of behavioral health clinical professionals focuses on treating each person individually rather than as a member of a group. We do not simply treat the symptoms afflicting our patients, we treat the entire person as a whole. Additionally, we believe that by keeping open communication between clinical team members, our patients, and the patient’s families, we are able to provide exceptional customer service that ensures the focus is always on our patients in helping them find long-lasting, successful recovery.
