đź’” When Kindness Went Too Far... (Full Story)
It all began one quiet afternoon.
My husband’s friend stopped by to drop something off. Before leaving, he smiled sadly and said, “I feel so lonely these days. My wife travelled abroad earlier this year.”
Out of kindness, I gave him a friendly hug — just to comfort him.
But in that moment, something felt different. He held me a little too long, and before I knew it, he gave me a quick kiss and hurried out of the door.
I was shocked. I didn’t even know what to think.
I decided not to tell my husband. Maybe he was just emotional and lonely, I thought.
A few days later, he texted, asking if I had told my husband. I said no.
That was the beginning of everything.
He started texting more often — checking up on me, sending kind words, even small gifts. I told myself he was just being nice, but deep down I knew something had changed.
I tried to distance myself, but he kept showing up — helping out with small things, bringing laughter into dull days. I began to enjoy the attention. I felt seen, appreciated… something I hadn’t felt for a while.
Then one day, boundaries broke. A moment of weakness turned into regret.
I couldn’t believe how far things had gone. I told him we should stop seeing each other, but he didn’t agree. He said he had fallen for me. He said he loved me more than his wife.
At first, I ignored him. But feelings are tricky — the more I tried to stay away, the more my heart betrayed me. We met again. And again. Until guilt started to eat me alive.
Then suddenly, everything changed. He stopped calling.
When I asked why, he said his wife was coming back soon. He wanted to end things before she returned, to avoid destroying both families.
My world crashed. The same man who said he loved me more than anything had walked away like nothing happened.
Weeks later, my husband found out.
The look in his eyes broke me more than any words could.
I wish I could turn back time.
Sometimes a single moment of weakness can destroy everything you’ve built. 💔
