The goal is a little one who:
• Pushes limits
• Feels big emotions
• Makes mistakes
• Then comes back to you to reconnect 💛

That moment when they return, repair, say sorry, give a hug, clean up?
🎯 THAT is the victory.
That’s emotional development.
That’s connection.
That's sequencing skills.
That's restoring.
That's learning.
That's progress.

Real growth isn’t in no tantrums or misbehaving.
It’s in coming back after the storm. 🌧️→☀️

🚫 "If you clean up, you get a sticker." 🚫
Sounds harmless, right?
But here’s the truth 👇

Bribes work fast… but they can also steal something big from the moment— the chance for your child to actually learn and practice empathy, cooperation, and connection. ❤️

We can miss the moment to teach HOW and WHY we clean up, help, or share through showing and doing rather than telling.

Because what's the really the point of asking the child to do things like clean up? It's to build skills that will last them a lifetime.

‼️The skill building is more important thing long-term development especially 1-5 year olds 🫶🏻

Parents tell me all the time: Clean up is the biggest battle in our house especially during meltdowns.
Here's what I do as a pediatric speech therapist:
👉Model or show the behavior I want to see (showing is SO much more powerful than telling)
👉For example, saying bye bye to toys, frame it as they're going back in their homes
👉Calm rhythmic voice or song to down regulate the child
👉9/10 times they follow and join me in their own time, this is key 🔑
