Igor Elman, DO

Igor Elman, DO A true partner in health who you can reach 24/7 and see same- or next-day. He sees fewer patients, which means more time for each one.

Dr. Elman, Board Certified Internal Medicine physician, offers a different approach to primary care. Patients appreciate same/next-day appointments that start on time and aren't rushed; plus they can usually reach his 24/7. His practice also offers other services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. Dr. Elman develops a personalized wellness plan based on the results of the wellness program. His MDVIP-affiliated practice is open to new patients.

I believe this is a great intro to personalized medicine for those that are not familiar and have friends/family members that aren't receiving the primary medical care they both need and deserve! Thanks Tara and Metro. Check it out!

So grateful to science for this gift and privileged to have my first Covid Pfizer vaccine today. Pre-medicated with 200 mg of ibuprofen about 2 hours before the shot, so far feeling fine.
Will keep everyone posted how things go in the coming days! Stay safe and happy holidays!

I think this could be a very appealing regimen for those with high blood pressure and high cholesterol but not great about taking multiple medicines to control these conditions. Often times in the US these combination therapies can be expensive however. An affordable one-pill-a-day regimen to help manage the issue could be a game changer. Thoughts? As always your shares and comments are welcome!

I wish there were larger studies that can corroborate this. I've anecdotally seen this effect on my own blood pressure sometimes as much as 20 points on lowering the systolic (top number) and 10 points on the diastolic (bottom number). I encourage my patients to swim (assuming they know how) or do water aerobics as an alternative for a strategy toward treating back pain or chronic pain, losing weight, high blood pressure and those that cannot walk/run/do cardio due to joint issues.
My pool currently has 4 lanes and only allows 1 person per lane for up to a half hour per session which I think is a great COVID safety protocol.
Have you considered integrating swimming into your exercise routine? Have you noticed a noticeable drop in blood pressure from your exercise regimen? Do you notice you sleep better after a good workout? Feel free to share and leave your feedback.

Many older adults like to take a dip a pool, and now a small study suggests it can be good for their blood pressure.

Fascinating new technology that can be a game changer namely "Promising tools for the next generation of therapies for everything from autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases to cancer and tissue injury... That's where the endothelial-derived EVs (EEVs) come in. Because these vesicles are derived from vascular tissue, which is uniquely tuned to sense hypoxic [low oygen] stress, the researchers hypothesized that the cargo they carry could provide direct protection to cardiac [heart] muscle... Our findings indicate that EEVs could protect cardiac tissue from reoxygenation [restoration of bloodflow] injury in part by supplementing the injured cells with proteins and signaling molecules that support different metabolic processes, paving the way for new therapeutic approaches."
What burning (pun intended) questions do you have about heart health or heart disease? I welcome your feedback!!

Researchers have unraveled potential mechanisms behind the healing power of extracellular vesicles and demonstrated their capacity to not only revive cells after a heart attack but keep cells functioning while deprived of oxygen during a heart attack. The researchers demonstrated this functionality....
