Emergency Health Services Federation

Emergency Health Services Federation “We are commitment driven to enhance quality EMS in southcentral PA.” We are the Regional EMS Council for the eight counties of Southcentral Pennsylvania.

Our mission is to develop, maintain, and improve the EMS system for Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York Counties. Although we have been a designated Regional EMS Council since the inception of the initial EMS Act, we were an EMS-centric organization for over 30 years. You might know us as the folks you call with questions about your continuing education credits or the next step in the EMSOF process. We are the individuals who come to your station to inspect your organization as part of PA EMS Licensure. We are also the faces you see when you are taking your practical examination. But did you know that we were the group who lead the way with the Statewide Recruitment Initiative, or the BLS CPAP program? Or the work that we do to improve our region's preparedness and that we've coordinated two deployments of resources from our region for Katrina, then Gustav. Our region is made up of some new faces, and some very seasoned personnel. Our office is no different. We have some individuals you've dealt with for decades and we have great new staff also. We don't talk much about our organization, as we have created a culture of putting you first. Our region has been impacted by several line of duty deaths, the Nickel Mines School shooting, and TMI. However, it never ceases to amaze everyone that the providers and our staff working together seem to always handle the events professionally with an overflow of compassion. We stick together when it matters. As we live in this area, we have a personal stake in meeting our mission statement.

“We are commitment driven to enhance quality EMS in Southcentral PA.”

As we purposely try to function as a lean organization with less than 10 fulltime staff, we rely heavily on the dozens of volunteers serving on our many committees. And we are always looking for more volunteers. We are not content staying the course. We want to be known as the best EMS System in the country.

Our certification card printers are still not printing. We are working with our IT vendor and the printer company to figure out why both printers will not print the cards from the PA EMS Registry correctly. As soon as we get the printers fixed, we will be printing and mailing certification cards to the providers. The print issue only affects providers with a residence in the EHSF region. Providers with a residence outside of the EHSF region should be receiving their certification cards since their materials are printed and mailed by their regional council

If you need your certification status verified before cards are mailed, you have a few options:

1. Licensure Roster: Your EMS agency manager can go into their EMS agency licensure application. Every EMS provider on their roster will display primary certification level and expiration date. Your new expiration date will display as soon as the reregistration is processed by the system.

2. Public Search: From the homepage of the EMS Registry (before logging into the system), click on Public Search from the gray menu box on the left side of the page. You will be able to search by name or certification number. A table will appear with the provider’s information. Click on select to open. The issue date and expiration date will display. You will also be able to see your EMSVO status and if any administrative actions are listed against your certification.

3. Provider Record Screenshot: You can log into your account in the PA EMS Registry. Your certification information (issue and expiration date) will display above your demographic information. You can also click on the “certifications” tab. Your certification history will display in a table showing primary and any add on certification, such as EMSVO or instructor. The issue and expiration date will display here.

4. E-mail: When you complete the registration process, the system sends an automatic e-mail saying the certification was processed.

As soon as we get the card printers fixed, printing and mailing of the cards will be our top priority.

Congratulations to Lancaster EMS for enhancing the quality of care provided to citizens in their community!

We’re proud to share that Lancaster EMS has successfully completed its first prehospital whole blood administration! Our team provided critical care to a patient experiencing a medical event with significant blood loss. With guidance from Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Medical Command, Dr. Brent, and assistance from Pequea Valley Ambulance, the administration went smoothly, and the patient was safely delivered to the Hospital emergency department. Carrying whole blood in partnership with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is a big step forward in the prehospital care provided to our community when every second counts.

The EHSF is experiencing a technical issue with the certification card printers. We are working through a fix with our IT and vendor. As soon as the issue is corrected, the certification cards will be printed and mailed to those who completed the reregistration process or attained initial certification.
