FAQ: How do I choose which points to use?

With close to 400 Acupuncture points on the body, I’m often asked: How do I know which to pick?

First things first, my formal education is my foundation.

Before I got my Doctorate, I completed a rigorous 3.5 year graduate program to earn my Masters of Science in Acu which required 3000+ hours of didactic & clinical training to learn the multi-faceted nature of every single point, which includes its:
* English Name & Chinese Pinyin
* Element Category
* Location & surrounding anatomy
* Functions & Indications
* Proper angle/depth of insertion
* Contraindications, if applicable

Over nearly 8 years in practice I’ve fortified my foundation with experience, learning to trust my intuition as much as my clinical reasoning when curating points to support your psyche, soma & soul.

Here’s a peek of what runs through my mind before choosing points:

✶ What are your symptoms/concerns?
✶ When we chat, what was said? What was unsaid…
✶ What’s the state of your Shen (Heart’s Mind)
✶ What’s your constitution?
✶ What patterns are present?
✶ If multiple, what’s the priority for lasting effect?
✶ Which vital substances are impacted?
✶ What needs to be moved (if stagnant) or supplemented (if deficient)?
✶ Where are you in your cycle (if menstruating)? What substances need support in this phase?

I’m grateful to share that even though I thought I would no longer need a Wait List going into May, it’s actually here to stay ~ and for good reason...

Given my currently full schedule & capacity (there’s so much going on behind the scenes I’ll share in time) I will only be welcoming New Clients seldomly as my availability ~and our alignment~ allows.

𝑭𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑨𝒄𝒖𝒑𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 🌙 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆 🌙 Since I started working with one of my dear clients 3 months ago, our shared intention has been to 𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆 & 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒏 her fertility as she prepares for IUI.

Of tests she’s completed so far, the most recent results revealed a major 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒈𝒈 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒚 🤍

Her AMH levels (Anti Mullerian Hormone ~ denotes ovarian reserve, ie. the # of growing follicles) went from 3.01 in before we began mid-Jan. to ✨4.48 ✨

That’s borderline “high” now in the best way!

While egg supply naturally dwindles with age, for her (under 30) with a history of amenorrhea (absent period) this is HUGE because it shows just how revitalized, nourished, and 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 her whole body is to the consistent messages it is receiving:

Those via Acupuncture, yes, but 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 importantly, those she offers herself via the steady integration of self-tending practices these last 3 months.

As for our approach, this looks like:

(ex: shifting intensity/type of exercise ~ energy audits on her capacity/saying “no” as needed & much more

𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 Qi & nourishing Blood by increasing nutrient density of foods she enjoys & the frequency of meals

𝑹𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 dormant lines of communication within the meridians, organs, and nervous system so she can return to a revitalized, harmonious state

𝑺𝒐𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 into her heart, being willing to be present with her range of emotions along her fertility journey.

I share this because when we work together, it’s not just about getting a result or to the Other Side…

I’ve come to terms with the fact that a post will never fully capture what transpires at Rune when it comes to the genuine relationships cultivated through time and trust.

It’s what I’ve always treasured the most.
