Today is Giving Tuesday — and your support matters more than ever! 💛

At APT Foundation, we believe recovery starts with access. Every day, our Open Access model ensures that people struggling with substance use disorder can walk in, be seen by a licensed provider, and start treatment the same day — regardless of ability to pay.

This Giving Tuesday, your donation helps us:
• Keep our doors open six days a week
• Provide medication and clinical care to those who need it most
• Break down stigma through education and outreach
• Offer hope, dignity, and support to individuals and families in crisis

Together, we can continue breaking barriers to treatment — and build a future where care doesn't wait! Donate now and be part of a movement that saves lives: https://aptfoundation.org/donate/. 🎁

Stigma keeps too many people from getting the help they need. But perspectives can change — and those stories matter.

Was it a conversation?
A personal experience?
A loved one’s recovery journey?

We want to know: What changed your perspective on stigma or treatment access?

Too often, the systems meant to support those with mental health or substance use challenges end up controlling them instead — through rigid rules, unnecessary restrictions, and inflexible appointments!

But what if care was designed differently?

🎙️ On this episode of Reality Check, Dr. Lynn Madden unpacks how even simple shifts — like offering flexible scheduling — can empower patients and rebuild trust in treatment.

It’s not just about access. It’s about agency!

💬 Watch the full conversation and share if you believe care should center people, not just protocol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLA5PT7EbZ4&t=1s!

What if substance use treatment started the moment you asked for it?

No waiting. No hoops to jump through. Just care—right now, from someone who sees you and hears you!

At APT Foundation, we meet people where they are — with licensed clinicians, medical screening, and support services that center dignity and health from day one.

Access to treatment shouldn’t come with barriers. Let’s change the standard!

Every journey to substance use recovery deserves a clear path!

At APT, there's no waitlist, no judgment — just real help, when and where you need it.

Whether it’s for you or someone you care about, know this: you’re welcome here. Today!

107,000 lives were lost to drug use in 2023. That’s more than double the number of traffic fatalities... 🚨

Every single use could be the last — and that makes it an emergency!

But here’s the truth:
• People want help.
• They ask for help.
• And when they do, the system needs to respond right away.

It’s time to stop “testing” motivation — and start meeting people with the support they need the moment they ask for it.

No appointment. No judgment. Just care.

When someone reaches out for help, that moment matters. That’s why APT Foundation offers same-day treatment access — including medication for opioid use disorder, group therapy, and support for mental health or other substance use needs.

Because saving lives starts with showing up when people say, “I need help.”

Here's what’s REALLY scary this Halloween! 👻

Not the costumes or haunted houses—but the very real barriers keeping people from getting the substance use care that they need.

🕸️ Long waitlists.
🕸️ Stigma and shame.
🕸️ Misinformation.
🕸️ Policies that block access.

At the APT Foundation, we believe access to care should never be scary!

Everyone deserves a path to healing—and it starts with understanding, education, and support.

Share this post to help shift fear into action, and stigma into understanding! Together, we can make the conversation less scary—and the path to care more clear. 💬

When it comes to treatment — the hardest part shouldn’t be getting in the door!

That’s why APT Foundation has spent decades removing as many barriers as possible. No referral needed. No waiting weeks. Regardless of ability to pay.

You can call 203-781-HELP or just walk in to our Access Center on Long Wharf Drive in New Haven — and get connected with a licensed provider that same day!

In a recent segment with CT LIVE, Dr. Lynn Madden, APT’s President & CEO, emphasized the power of showing up — not just for yourself, but for your loved ones and your community. Because recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when support is visible, accessible, and shared.

What if healthcare systems were built around you — not red tape?

On this episode of CALM’s Reality Check podcast, Dr. Lynn Madden breaks down what makes our open-access model so powerful.

📌 No appointments needed
📌 No shame—just support
📌 Regardless of ability to pay

By repurposing traditional roles to actually support people through treatment, APT Foundation removes the noise so individuals can focus on what matters most: getting better!

Recovery doesn’t just change one life — it transforms many!

When someone gets the support they need, it doesn’t stop with them. It radiates outward — bringing healing to families, strength to communities, and hope to future generations.

But fear and stigma still stand in the way for too many people.
Shame keeps people silent.
Misconceptions delay treatment.
And lives are lost while we wait for “the right moment” to act.

Here’s the truth:
The right moment is now!
And it starts with conversations like this one.

Share this video to help challenge the stigma, raise awareness, and show that recovery is possible — and powerful. 💙

Mission Statement

Founded in 1970, the APT Foundation’s mission is to promote the health and recovery for those who live with substance use disorders and/or mental illness.

Vision

It is the philosophy of the APT Foundation that the disease of addiction must be treated in a holistic way. It is our belief that addiction is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit, affecting a person’s social and emotional functioning, and that treatment must address all of these needs.
