Jody L. Rowell, LCSW

Jody L. Rowell, LCSW Licensed Clinical Social Worker I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience working with children, teens and young adults.

I also have significant experience working with adults facing transitions within their lives. I believe that therapy should be an experience where clients feel they are not only heard but where the work is concrete and solution focused. My practice is wide reaching when it comes to the issues I feel comfortable addressing. I specialize in loss (divorce, death, untimely death including loss of children, terminal illness, grief), trauma, life transitions, anxiety, depression, childhood and school issues, parenting and co-parenting in newly created families, as well as sexual orientation and gender issues. Life is complicated. I will help you identify how your current issue interacts with the multiple relationships in your life. Resolution is obtained by understanding yourself in each of your environments. "No person is an Island". If the therapeutic process is to be successful, the work must reflect that fact.

Looking for a virtual prescriber for adult with bipolar in remission for years. They would be willing to do intake in person in the Groton area. Very pleasant human presenting with some anxiety and depression.

Times are really hard on all of us. But if you had a child return early from college, they are reeling. They need us even if they say they don’t. We are scared. All of us. Some thoughts...

She’s home. And she’s just really grieving. Hard. And I will give her that with a dose of “Yes. It sucks. I’m sorry. I hear you. But we will get through it.”

More than anything we need to let them grieve for a time. It scares us that we can’t fix this. But we can by listening. It took me forever to learn that as a mom. She just wanted a witness and a place to dump her fear. And when she’s tired from speaking I say “Yes. I’m scared too. But I’ve got you and always will. And we will be ok. We will always be ok.”

Her appetite is zilch. Not the healthiest for now but...she agreed to frozen waffles with VT maple syrup and butter. And of course...room service. 🙄

In her world everything changed overnight, everything. “Nothing will ever be the same”. It’s important to show her some things never change. There will always be frozen waffles. Always. And that’s enough to be sure of for now. ❤️
