Clifford Beers

Clifford Beers A nonprofit innovating mental health care for children and families in Connecticut since 1913.

Mental health and support services for children, adolescents, young adults, and families. We are a nationally recognized provider of trauma-informed mental health care for children, adolescents, and adults. We serve as the safety net for children and families in the greater New Haven area who cannot afford or gain access to private mental health care. Our whole-family, trauma-informed, integrated model of care is designed to reduce chronic stress and build healthy and supportive connections. The children and families we serve are incredibly resilient, and we believe every individual deserves compassionate and individualized care that improves their health, resiliency, and quality of life. We accept Medicaid (HUSKY) as well as several commercial health insurance providers.

This evening's reminder: new beginnings are always possible, even after the hardest seasons. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, tired, or not quite yourself, know that you’re not alone, and it’s okay to take things one small step at a time.

Give yourself permission to rest, to breathe, and to start again—no pressure, no expectations. Healing isn’t a race.

Here are a few gentle ways to reset:
• Take 10–15 minutes for quiet (no phone, no noise)
• Go for a short walk or get some fresh air
• Drink water + eat something nourishing
• Do a simple “brain dump” to clear your thoughts
• Set 1 small, realistic goal for tomorrow

Wishing you a week filled with gentle moments, hope, and a little bit of light.

Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, we celebrate neurodiversity and the unique perspectives that individuals on the autism spectrum bring to our world.

Let’s move beyond awareness to acceptance, understanding, and inclusion, creating spaces where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Small acts of kindness, patience, and openness can make a big difference.

Together, we can build a more inclusive world.

April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to recognize, celebrate, and deepen our understanding of autistic individuals and the broader neurodivergent community.

This month is important not only for raising awareness, but for promoting acceptance, inclusion, and respect. It’s an opportunity to reflect on how we show up in our work and ensure we are supporting individuals in ways that honor their strengths, needs, and identities.

The 2026 Walk for Autism & Resource Fair is taking place on May 17th at the Quinnipiac University North Haven Campus. Interested in attending or supporting the Connecticut Autism community?

Day 2 of the Healing the Generations 2026 conference and it absolutely lived up to expectations.

Incredible conversations, fresh ideas, and a ton of inspiration to bring back to the communities we we work with. We are so grateful to be in a space filled with such energy and innovation.

We had two amazing keynote presentations, more than 15 breakout workshops to choose form and lots of connection, reflection and recharging.

Let’s see what Day 3 brings.

Pre-Conference Day is here at the 6th Healing the Generations Conference.

We’re honored to gather in a space rooted in connection, resilience, and community—where healing begins and stories are shared. This powerful event is dedicated to addressing childhood and intergenerational trauma, uplifting voices, and building pathways toward collective well-being.

Presented by Clifford Beers Community Care Center (CBCCC), today sets the tone for meaningful conversations, learning, and transformation as we start with full day sessions: Self-Healing Communities, Place Based and Community Work, Women’s Consortium: Healing Arts.

We hope you had a lovely Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Mental health isn’t about “just being lucky” to have a good day, it’s about support, understanding, and showing up for one another.
Everyone deserves care and compassion today and every single day

If you’re struggling, reach out. If you’re doing okay, check in on someone who might not be.

Real luck is having people who are patient and care!
