Sometimes, family dinners run late. Sometimes, your baby needs to sleep right now. And sometimes, telling relatives to “keep it down for naptime” just isn’t worth the stress. 😅

Here’s a pro move: Take a ride. 🚙 Pop them in the car seat, drive for 20-30 minutes, and let them catch that power nap. It’s not their usual sleep routine, but it works. Plus, YOU get a breather from the family chaos (and maybe some much-needed quiet time too). Win-win
Feeling overwhelmed by family sleep disruptions? You’re not alone. Flexibility is your secret weapon during the holidays. More tips like this (and plenty of parent confessions) in the latest episode of The Sleep Edit!

🚗 What’s YOUR go-to strategy for getting kids to sleep at family gatherings? Tell us below!

It's not really best practice to drug your kid to sleep with diphenhydramine (aka Benadryl) as a) it can actually make your kid hyperactive b)there are some major safety issues.

Is your little one suddenly fighting naps or staying up super late? Those can be big signs that they're ready to transition away from napping! If daycare naps are causing bedtime battles, don't hesitate to get your pediatrician involved. They can help!

As a kid, naps felt like punishment. Now? Glorious, absolute silence. Unless, of course, you have trouble sleeping at night... then maybe skip it.

If you’re stressing about holiday sleep, take a breath. A couple of nights at grandma’s with weird naps and later bedtimes WILL NOT RUIN your child’s sleep forever. Promise.

Here’s the deal: Kids who have been through sleep struggles often have parents (🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️) who cling to routines. But sometimes, flexibility is the real superpower. One or two nights of “off” sleep won’t undo all your hard work.

So, if your toddler crashes on a cousin’s couch or your baby stays up past bedtime — it’s OK. When you get home, stick to your normal routine and everything will fall back into place. Grace over perfection, every time. 💫

Need more support navigating holiday sleep without losing your mind? We’ve got you covered in the latest episode of The Sleep Edit!

❓ What’s your go-to move when sleep routines go off the rails during family trips? Drop it below — we all need fresh ideas!

Catch those sleep cues! Recognizing yawns or a fixed stare can help with bedtime. A routine helps, but don't miss the window by being too strict. Watch what your child shows you. Additionally, make sure that they have been awake and stimulated long enough. From podcast episode 15

Medical problems are a common cause of night time awakenings in children. Conditions such as , , , or even can wake kids up. I highly recommend you have your child checked out by your pediatrician if they are waking up at night. From episode 1 of podcast. With

In our latest episode of we are covering sleep training myths. And honestly, one of the most pernicious ones is that you should feel bad about sleep training your child.

On vacation and sharing a bed with your child? 🛏
Turn it into a special sleepover — and gently remind them it’s just for the trip.

That way, you can enjoy the moment and make it easier to get back to your usual routine at home.

and I are really excited about the new episode of the Sleep Edit, tackling holiday sleep challenges. The most important thing to remember in this exciting (and fraught, and stressful) season is, that
a) your child's sleep won't be perfect
b) it will be fine
