βš™οΈ How Occlusal Guards Help with TMJ Disorders
- Reduce Clenching and Grinding (Bruxism) by letting the guard absorb and distribute the forces from grinding, preventing joint overuse and muscle fatigue.
- Relieve Pressure on the TMJ by slightly adjusting jaw position, the guard helps decrease strain on the temporomandibular joint.
- Promote Muscle Relaxation by maintaining a consistent, cushioned bite position can relax overactive muscles that contribute to TMJ pain.
- Prevent Dental Damage by protecting the enamel from being worn down by chronic grinding, which can otherwise worsen bite issues and jaw pain.
- Specially designed stabilization splints can help balance the way upper and lower teeth meet, reducing stress on the TMJ.

Ask us at your next appointment if an occlusal guard is right for you. We do NOT encourage over the counter "boil and bite" type guards for long term treatment options.🦷☘

Welcome Assistant Sammy to New Haven Dental! 🦷☘ She has been with us for a few months now and she is fitting in great with the team!

Sammy grew up in Beaufort, Missouri and currently lives there as well. She attended State Tech and graduated from their dental assisting program. Her favorite part about assisting is getting to know and help people.

Outside of work, Sammy enjoys spending her free time playing with her dogs, spending time with her friends and family, and doing lots of volunteer work through the Beaufort Lions Club.

We are happy to have you part of the team, Sammy!
