🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR UNITEDHEALTHCARE COMMUNITY PLAN MEDICAID FAMILIES 🚨

Dear Parents & Caregivers,
We understand that the recent news about changes within Louisiana’s Medicaid system may feel overwhelming.

Moss Speech Therapy is aware of the state’s decision to remove UnitedHealthcare Community Plan as a Medicaid option in 2026. We are closely watching for additional updates and want to reassure you that we are currently in-network with all Louisiana Managed Care Organization (MCO) Medicaid plans. Our team will work hard to reduce any interruptions in your child’s therapy services. With this change affecting a large number of families, we kindly ask for your patience as we complete the administrative steps needed to ensure continued care.

Summary of the Update:
The Louisiana Department of Health will officially end its contract with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) on December 31, 2025—a decision that was originally approved in October but has now been unexpectedly reversed. If your child is covered under UHC Medicaid, their plan will change automatically on January 1, 2026.

❓ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOUR CHILD’S THERAPY?

• Your child will be switched to another Louisiana Medicaid plan.
• You should receive a notice in the mail identifying the plan your child has been reassigned to. ✉️
• You will have 90 days to choose a different plan if the assigned one does not meet your child’s needs. 🕒
• Moss Speech Therapy accepts all Louisiana Medicaid plans; however, some plans have a history of frequent denials ❌ or slower authorization processing. Your child will remain on our caseload, but delays in scheduling or therapy continuation may occur as we secure new authorization.

Books are one of the best tools for building communication—especially with AAC users! 📚💬

When you read with your child, pause and model language on their device:
👉 Ask simple questions: “Who?” “Where?” “What’s that?”
👉 Have them point to items on the page or select them on their AAC.
👉 Build suspense by asking, “What’s happening next?” or “Then what?”
👉 Model comments like “I see…” “Look!” “Uh oh!” to grow functional, everyday language.

Every page becomes a chance to connect, communicate, and learn together. 💛
