November is Diabetes Awareness Month. At Cumberland Hospital, we understand that managing diabetes in children and adolescents can be especially challenging, particularly when emotional or behavioral health issues are also present. Since 1983, we’ve provided a unique, integrated approach that combines comprehensive medical care with therapeutic behavioral support to help young people gain control of their diabetes and improve their overall well-being.

Our Diabetes Management Program is designed to:
• Address the emotional and psychological factors that impact diabetes care
• Improve self-care skills and treatment adherence
• Break the cycle of repeated hospitalizations through education and support

We specialize in treating:
• Youth who have not responded to less intensive treatment programs
• Patients with co-occurring mental health conditions that complicate diabetes management
• Individuals who continue to struggle despite multiple inpatient or outpatient interventions
• Adolescents with diabetes and coexisting eating disorders

Call us at 800-368-3472 to learn more about how we can help.

This Halloween, departments across our organization came together to create a festive and spooky experience for our patients! The day was filled with fun activities, including trick-or-treating for stickers and non-food goodies throughout the administration building, scenic hayrides around campus and interactive games in the gym. We wrapped up the celebration with a lively costume parade through the courtyard, bringing smiles and Halloween spirit to everyone involved!
