We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Catherine Roberts, a senior at West Point High School, for her unwavering dedication to the youth at Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents. For the past two years, through her involvement with the West Point High School Honor Society, Catherine has generously supported our annual Christmas celebrations, decorating, wrapping gifts and bringing joy and holiday spirit to our campus during a special time of year.

Last year especially, she devoted countless hours, often every day, creating gingerbread houses, festive décor, snow scenes and holiday displays. This year, she returned with the same enthusiasm and heart. As she completes her final year supporting Cumberland through the Honor Society, we want to express our sincere gratitude for her compassion, reliability and the meaningful impact she has had on our youth. We are truly thankful for her service and wish her continued success in all that lies ahead.

We celebrated our second annual Holiday Parade this Wednesday! Event organizer, Fende Williams, Case Manager, truly outdid herself as staff and patients lined the parking lot to welcome representatives from the New Kent County and Charles City County Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Services, who came to spread holiday cheer. The festivities were capped off with special appearances by Santa Claus and The Grinch!

“Cumberland Hospital was honored to provide a special holiday moment for our patients and staff in partnership with our community’s first responders,” said CEO Garrett Hamilton.

Our CEO, Garrett Hamilton, had the pleasure of attending yesterday’s celebration of Governor Glenn Youngkin’s “Right Help, Right Now” plan. This plan ensures Virginians get immediate behavioral health support before, during and after a crisis.

By expanding 988, mobile crisis units and crisis centers, it improves care for children, adults and families, reduces emergency department strain and supports law enforcement. The plan also strengthens substance use disorder treatment and mental health services, positioning Virginia as a leader in behavioral health reform.
