Today is World Mosquito Day. These little insects kill more than a million people worldwide and infect up to 7 million a year- 1 in 10 people worldwide. Due to climate change we are seeing the migration of mosquitos that were traditionally only found south in warmer areas coming north and bringing diseases such as Dengue and Zika.

First responders across eastern Connecticut rehearsed how to respond in a mock disaster.

12 MRC volunteers participated in a full scale school reunification exercise at East Lyme High School. The scenario was a tornado hit the school resulting in structural damage, injuries and the need to reunite students with families. There were many participants from around the region. Kudos to Julie Wilson, Interim EMD of East Lyme and Rich Waselik from Griswold for all of the planning that went into making this exercise a success!
