Ledge Light Health District – LLHD – serves as the local health department for East Lyme, Groton, Ledyard, New London, North Stonington, Old Lyme, Stonington, and Waterford, Connecticut. As a health district, formed under Connecticut General Statutes Section 19a-241, LLHD is a special unit of government, allowing member municipalities to provide comprehensive public health services to residents in

a more efficient manner by consolidating the services within one organization. The Director of Health and staff of LLHD work to promote health and wellness among more than 151,000 residents we serve. By enforcing the Connecticut Public Health Code, conducting health education programs, monitoring disease outbreaks and nurturing our environment, LLHD is focused on promoting healthy communities.

Follow Along with Our Spring Intern, Edna!

Edna recently met with Jessica Isberg, an Environmental Technician at LLHD. Jessica plays a key role in keeping our community safe and healthy. From inspecting cosmetology and body art facilities to ensuring pools meet health standards, her work helps protect residents across the District. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in Public Health, Jessica is passionate about creating safer environments for everyone.

Edna recently met with Danielle Holmes and learned about septic systems. Danielle is a Senior Environmental Health Specialist with 9 years of dedicated service at LLHD. She serves as the Town of East Lyme's primary Environmental Health Specialist and brings a wealth of expertise to her role. Danielle is a Certified CT Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, Certified CT Food Inspector, Certified in Subsurface Sewage (Phases 1 & 2), and a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS). Danielle earned her degree in Environmental Science & Policy from Marist College and is passionate about protecting and improving public health in our community.

Last week, Edna met Sara DeAngelo. Sara is an Environmental Health Specialist II with extensive certifications including Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, Food Inspector, Subsurface Sewage, and Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS).

She holds a Master of Science in Public Health from Southern New Hampshire University. Through inspections, education, and outreach, Sara works to keep our communities safe and healthy.
