Snow much to do, snow little time! ❄️

While most people are staying warm inside, our dedicated caregivers at Care at Home are bundling up, brushing off their cars, and showing up with the same compassion and commitment our clients rely on every day.

Snowstorms may slow the roads, but they never stop the care. From helping with morning routines to providing companionship and support, we’re honored to be there when it matters most.

To our incredible caregivers navigating the snow today — thank you for your dedication. And to our clients and families — stay warm, stay safe, and know we’re always here for you. ❄️

When Is It Time to Bring in Extra Help at Home?

It’s a question many families wrestle with quietly.

Mom is still independent… but she’s not cooking as much.
Dad insists he’s fine… but he’s had a couple of falls this year.
Your spouse says they don’t need help… but you’re exhausted trying to do it all.

Sometimes the signs are small, but meaningful:
• Missed medication reminders
• Increased forgetfulness
• Unsteady walking or recent falls
• Difficulty keeping up with housekeeping
• Caregiver burnout

At Care at Home, we often meet families in that in-between stage — not quite ready for a facility, yet needing more support than family alone can safely provide.

If you’re unsure whether it’s “time,” that’s okay. We’re happy to talk it through and explain what an evaluation would look like — no pressure, just guidance.

Bringing in help doesn’t mean giving up independence. More often, it helps protect it.

A little extra support can bring peace of mind, restore balance, and let families get back to what matters most — simply being family.

Laissez les bons temps rouler! 💜💚💛

Mardi Gras is all about celebration, music, color, and connection — and it’s a wonderful opportunity to create joyful moments with the seniors in our lives.

Here are some fun and meaningful ways to celebrate with older adults:

Host a mini parade at home or in your community with beads, masks, and festive decorations. Play classic New Orleans jazz in the background and let everyone join in the fun.

Make simple Mardi Gras crafts like decorating masks or creating bead necklaces. It’s great for fine motor skills and creativity.

Have a King Cake tasting party. Share the tradition and see who “finds the baby”! Pair it with coffee and conversation about favorite celebrations from the past.

Start a music & memory moment. Play songs from their younger years and encourage storytelling. Holidays like this are perfect for reminiscing and connection.

Cook a simple Cajun-inspired meal together — even something easy like jambalaya or beignets can make the day feel special.

Celebrations don’t have to be big to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s just about bringing color, laughter, and togetherness into the day. 💜

How will you celebrate Mardi Gras this year? 🎭✨

President’s Day was first established in 1879 by President Rutherford B. Hayes to honor George Washington’s birthday on February 22. It was the first federal holiday to celebrate the life of an individual American. Over time, it has become a day to recognize all U.S. presidents and the leadership that has guided our nation 🇺🇸🗽.

At Care at Home, we are inspired by those same values—dedication, service, and commitment to others. Every day, our caregivers bring care, support, and compassion into the homes of the people we serve, helping them live safely and comfortably.

Today we recognize the leaders who guided our nation and the enduring commitment to service that strengthens every community ⭐🇺🇸.
