Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends and colleagues.

We are heartbroken to share that Fred Kemp, an Advanced EMT and Rescue Technician with 28 years of service, died in the line of duty today during a training exercise. This is an extremely difficult time for our agency, and we are in close contact with the Kemp family.

More information will follow, but in the meantime, please keep the Kemp family and our team in your thoughts as we process this loss.

It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic loss of one of our own, Paramedic Cody Satterfield. Cody began his EMS career here at JCEMS where he is literally family. Over the years, Cody went on to serve multiple communities across East Tennessee with dedication and compassion, most recently at Hancock County EMS and Sullivan County EMS. Cody wasn’t just a skilled and caring paramedic—he was also a teacher and mentor who poured his knowledge and heart into educating the next generation of EMS providers. Our deepest condolences go out to Cody’s family, friends, and our fellow EMS agencies and team members who had the honor of working alongside him. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Rest easy, Cody. Your impact will not be forgotten.

We enjoyed educating the campers about mass casualty incidents, culminating in a pediatric MCI exercise. We were also excited to get to talk with them about prehospital emergency care and discuss the importance of building relationships between nursing and EMS to improve the care of all our patients. Thank you, Carson Newman, for the invitation!
