We had a unique honor today. We laid to rest William R. McGaha
Born July 19, 1937 - Died Nov 22, 2025. Mr McGaha was laid to rest in the Elkmont community of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This cemetery is right at the entry to what is referred to as millionaires row. A beautiful collection of former summer homes. Mr. McGaha was buried beside his beloved wife and near his grandmother Ms.Teaster. We had the privilege of having the Morristown VFW provide military honors and the active duty soldiers of Fort Campbell. Jimmy McGaha you honored your parents well.

Richard Allen Varner, age 73, of Talbott, passed away on December 8, 2025. The family will be announcing an inurnment service at a later date. Fielden Funeral Home is honored to serve the Varner Family.

We pause today to recall the attack on Pearl Harbor, with only a dozen survivors remaining. Even though the attack occurred over 4500 miles from our little town of New Market and 84 years ago, it still impacts our hearts and minds today.

HONOLULU — Survivors of the 1941 Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor have long been the center of a remembrance ceremony held each year on the military base’s waterfront.

But today only 12 are still alive — all centenarians — and this year none is able to make the pilgrimage to Hawaii to mark the event, scheduled for Sunday.

We had a blast with so many of you tonight at the New Market Christmas Parade! We hope you enjoyed the hot chocolate and cookies! We enjoyed seeing so many folks!! A great gathering after the parade at the New Market Fire Dept - TN for the City of New Market, TN first lighting of the Christmas tree!

Information for today's New Market Christmas Parade----

At 4pm until the parade starts will be serving Hot Chocolate and Cookies in the yellow circled area and the blue area is a great viewing spot. Please do not park on the grass as this is our new septic/drainfield area.

You are also welcome to park in our main parking area and walk over to the intersection of Old Andrew Johnson and Churchview.

Make sure you stop by the funeral home on your way to grab a viewing spot for the New Market parade tomorrow (Saturday, December 6th)! We will have hot chocolate and cookies while they last! We will begin serving at 4 PM, and the parade steps off at 5 PM.
