Is your child the one who can do all the party tricks — splits, bending their thumbs back, or showing off super flexible joints? 🤸‍♀️
Kids are naturally more flexible than adults, but sometimes too much flexibility can cause problems.

Some children have hypermobility, meaning their joints move beyond the typical range. While it can look impressive, it can also lead to:

• Joint pain

• Frequent sprains

• Tendonitis

• Poor balance or clumsiness

• Minor joint subluxations or dislocations

Sometimes hypermobility is related to connective tissue conditions like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), but many kids simply have loose joints that need more stability.

How can pediatric physical therapy help?

In therapy we focus on:

✔ Teaching kids what normal joint end-range feels like

✔ Isometric strengthening and stabilization to support joints

✔ Building strength, balance, and body awareness

If your child is very flexible but also struggles with pain, sprains, or balance, pediatric PT may help. 💚🧡

Wondering why a little one might need a helmet? Plagiocephaly from torticollis is often the reason

Torticollis is when a baby’s neck muscles are tighter or weaker on one side, causing them to tilt their head one direcrion and turn their head in another. It’s very common in infants, often shows up in the first few weeks of life. If you notice this in your little one the earlier you reach out the better 🤗 Luckily, pediatric PTs are pros at treating this condition. It’s very fixable, so no need to worry! 😊✨
