Jessica is a dedicated member of the Tree of Life Assisted Living team and has worked in the long-term care field for 18 years. Her journey into this profession began in a deeply personal way, starting as her son’s PCA and advocate. Through that experience, she discovered a strong calling to help others in any way she could, which led her to a lasting career in assisted living.

Jessica’s favorite part of her role is getting to know both the residents and her coworkers, building meaningful connections, and bringing smiles to those around her each day. She values the sense of community at Tree of Life and takes pride in creating a warm, supportive environment.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys relaxing by a bonfire, listening to music, going fishing, reading, and spending time with her dog. You may be surprised to learn that she is double jointed in her wrists, hands, and fingers. Jessica is inspired by her parents, who worked hard throughout their lives, and she strives to honor their memory through her dedication and compassion.

Her advice to others working in this field is heartfelt: “Be patient and kind. Remember there are people that you have so much to learn from.”

Krista is the Director of Nursing at Tree of Life Assisted Living and has devoted her career to long term care since 2018. She joined the Tree of Life team in 2022, bringing with her a commitment to compassionate clinical leadership and a resident-centered approach to nursing practice. Her decision to enter the field was shaped by a deeply personal experience—while on vacation she required emergency surgery and found herself dependent on the skill and kindness of caregivers. Being in need of someone else’s care inspired her to offer that same comfort and expertise to others.

The favorite part of Krista’s career is the time she spends with residents. She enjoys sharing stories with them and finding creative ways to make them smile and laugh, believing that joy and connection are essential elements of healing and quality of life. Her dedication to knowing residents as individuals guides the culture of care she fosters within the nursing department.

One thing that may surprise many is that Krista has only thirteen states left to visit, a goal that reflects her enthusiasm for exploration and lifelong learning. Outside of work she loves to travel, camp, spend time on the water boating, and enjoy relaxing days at the lake. Family is central to her life, and she treasures opportunities to create memories with those closest to her.

Krista is inspired most by her current boss, Tina. She often speaks about the remarkable courage and strength Tina demonstrates in starting Tree of Life and continuing forward despite challenges, ensuring that the community remains an exceptional home for residents. This example motivates Krista to persevere with the same determination so Tree of Life can continue providing meaningful, dignified care.

A piece of advice Krista offers to someone beginning in this field is to find a mentor—someone to ask questions, share experiences with, and help navigate the challenges that arise throughout a long term care career. She believes that guidance and collaboration are the foundation of professional growth and resilient nursing leadership.
