I encourage you to find the vast spiritual being that you come from and experience it every day. We reach further than our bodies, we get to choose what experiences we present our spirit with, and we have power to transform our human experience to match our spiritual experience.

Anger and violence is a weapon but love, community, and non-violence can also be the weapons. Which outcome do you want? The violence we see in today’s world comes from those without true community, without true love and compassion in their lives, without teachings from elevated minds. They are the downtrodden, they hold their misfortune and have been allowed to follow a violent mind. How do you want this to end? United or with more people suppressed? How can you be an activist and be smarter about it vs more violent than the violent ones?

Do these words make you angry? Then find community. Let them pick you up so that you can pick others up.

Food for thought.

The Peaceful Warrior

There’s a stern, determination to do what’s “right” for our communities during this time of turmoil. For many of us this turmoil has also been turned inward, trying to find answers through our anger, but trying to uphold our spiritual nature of peace and non violence. Know that you are not alone! The unsettled feeling you have right now is the need to want to create action when we are use to non action being the way forward.

So, how do we move forward in a spiritual way through this turmoil?

1. Creating a strong and balanced spirit, mind, and body, through meditation, movement, and self care.
2. Gathering in community with uplifting spirit in mind.
3. Contemplation - Refuse to allow anger lead your path. Instead, step back from the emotions and use your mind to find creative expressions of activism that brings our community together with determined compassion.

The peaceful warrior is symbolic of strength and one who travels with an open heart. They do not fall victim to anger but stand unwavering in the trials faced and lifted by their community that stands beside and behind them in support.

Keep following along as we dive deeper into the spiritual awakening of our inner peaceful warrior.

I invite you to find the abstract thoughts of a simple statement. On face value this seems simple. It’s winter and of course we wait for spring. We like spring, it’s better than winter. Winter has gotten cold and there’s too much to maintain with snow and freezing temps. I want the days to be longer and nights to be warmer. There’s nothing green growing in the winter, it’s just depressing.

The spring is great but my allergies are driving me crazy, I can’t wait for summer. It’s better than the spring. I can go swimming in the summer and allergies aren’t going crazy all the time and I can go on fun vacations in the summer

Summer is great but it’s getting sooo HOT! I can’t wait for the fall so it’ll cool down. My energy bill is so high running the hvac all the time. If it were fall we could just open the windows. PSL season has got to be here soon!

Omg fall is here finally but it’s so rainy and the days are getting too short. Why are they doing the time change still!? I’m ready for the holidays to be here this winter.

…..get it yet?

Taking time for yourself, getting a massage, going to a movement class, learning a self care technique; It’s not something you give yourself as a treat. It is vital for you so that you can extend your health-span, become stronger as you grow older, wiser as you experience more.

Don’t let the old thoughts of wellness, that only rich people or those with “more time” can participate in self care, be your belief system. Chang it to embrace it!

This is an invitation to let go of all your worries and societal thoughts about who everyone else thinks you should be. Finding your true spirit, connecting with your higher consciousness, finding a path that speaks to you and brings your purpose and dharma forward; that’s what this experience is about. We are here to learn about our selves from a conscious awareness of the human experience.

Find this path by creating space in your life. This space can be reached in acts of community and self growth, like the examples below:

• Learning to treat others in a way that shows we are all connected.
• Giving our selves moments to reflect about our actions
• Providing for those that may be lost or need assistance, or otherwise too stressed with surviving to be able to find their own peace.
• Acknowledge the difference between how we act and how we want to be treated

Lay down your mental swords and hold out a heart filled hand.

The Peace Walk of the Buddhist monks this past week or two have spoken to many as they pass through large and small towns. Creating moments of emotion, internal questioning, and more profoundly a peaceful way to gather as community.

Being at peace is simply accomplished by living in peace.

In meditation, we ask ourselves questions so we can understand where we stand in our experience.

Perhaps one or more of these questions will give you a meditation to contemplate on:
- How does one accomplish peace through times like today when so much anger is within, considering the social injustice that is rampant in our society?
- What does peace look like when we are pushed to stand up for what is just and fair for all.
- Can we be both warriors and peace makers?
- Is my version of peace coming from a personal/ego need or is it coming from compassion for the community?
- How will my own peaceful nature help those around me?

There’s many more questions that you can answer. Find the reaction within you and create the question “why Ami feeling this way”.

Journal, make a note on your phone, talk it out with a friend, meditate in silence.
