The cosmic wheel turns again and brings us to the last sign in the zodiac, Pisces, the sign of the sea. Ruled by Neptune, this sign is extremely psychic and sensitive. They feel every feeling very deeply and connect with others with ease. Spiritual by nature, Pisces is always trying to figure out what this world is about and what is our purpose here. They are known for their visionary abilities and are optimistic by nature. One of Pisces favorite things is to sleep because they tend to have vivid and detailed dreams that can sometimes be prophetic. Generous with their time and resources, they give and give of themselves to others and need alone time to restore themselves or they can become cranky. I feel, because they are the end of the zodiac, that they have a little bit of all of the signs in them and they can be compatible with most people. The only thing to watch is excess. They can overdo something, for good or bad, and need to watch that tendency so it doesn't become addictive or destructive. You can often recognize a Pisces by their eyes. Usually large and expressive, you can get mesmerized when you fall under their gaze. Also Pisces women have an attraction factor that can't be beat and rarely are they spurned by the object of their desires. Perhaps it's their eyes or maybe the air of mystery they give off. Deep, free flowing and wise , you will always feel there is a lot going on beneath the stillness they portray and you're right, there is. When the Sun enters a sign it offers all of us the ability to tap into the energies they possess too. Two things I recommend focusing on this next month is your intuition and your ability to expand whatever you put your attentions to. Be intentional by asking the universe what you should be doing right now and listen to what insights you receive. Mercury will be retrograde soon in this sign and I'll write more as we come to that but remember to try to stay fluid this next month and you'll be fine.

It's almost here y'all. The day many of us astrologers have been looking forward to as a powerful time for a reset. While all New Moons are about new starts this one is also the start of Eclipse Season which represents endings. The beauty of this is that while endings can be tough, beginnings encourage optimism so we wont have time to ruminate over what needs to be left behind. This is happening in the sign of Aquarius which is all about the future. We also have the end of the Year of the Snake and the entrance into the Year of the Horse, another end and start. It's also Mardi Gras which is the end of a season of indulgence and then the beginning of Lent. To use this time effectively look into your life and see what needs to go before you can step into a new chapter. If you know your chart check to see if you have any signs in Aquarius and what house they are in cause that will give you a real clue where most of this energy will be swirling. Don't expect this to happen all at once. Eclipse themes play out for awhile. But remember that if something is being released from your experience, it will be replaced with something better as this is the way of things, especially now. Last few days of The Year of the Snake are asking us to release what's not for our highest good. This is a perfect time to do a little inventory on what has popped up for us this past year. Are there any recurring patterns of behavior you are seeing that are self destructive or self sabotaging? Are there relationships or situations that have outlived their usefulness? We've all got something cause we humans have a habit of holding onto things past their expiration date cause we don't like change. The end of the snake cycle gives us the necessary energy to shed what no longer serves us and break outworn cycles before this new cycle of equine energy gallops in to give us the opportunity to start fresh and unfettered.

AstroAlert - Saturn In Aries - Friday the 13th
Well that sounds pretty ominous, Saturn, the planet of hard work & discipline, moves into the sign of action & energy, Aries, on Friday the 13th. It is a BIG shift from where it had been in the dreamy sign of Pisces but all the fear based posting I've been seeing is a bit over the top. Sure Aries is the God of War and can be aggressive and impulsive. Saturn however plays a long game and will watch Aries hurl that energy around until it tuckers itself out and then will try to direct it to do the good things it's capable of. One of the tough parts of this transit is that Aries wants everything right now while Saturn makes you earn it over time. To see how this will play out for you is to find out where both Saturn and Aries are in your chart. For me it falls into my house of communication which means I'm going to be honing my message and how I relay that to the world around me. For the world around us collectively I feel we'll see some escalation in global aggressions but in the long run good old Saturn will restrict those impulses some. The big thing that I'm seeing with this is that we will all be chomping at the bit to make things happen. While Pisces energy is laid back, Aries is in your face so it'll feel like we had a jolt of caffeine that wakes us out of a long nap. Channel this to whatever area is tugging on you and know that solutions to long standing challenges are possible if you are willing to do the work. Coming up on 2/20 we have big Aries energy as both Saturn and Neptune sit down together in that sign to see how best to make necessary changes happen. I'll post more on that then but for now, just breath and don't panic.

Started today out being grateful and here I am with one of my favorite pals, the superstar host of Great Day Louisiana, Malik Mingo. We got to connect earlier about the exciting Lunar New Year coming up, The Year of the Fire Horse, and how it will be affecting all of the Eastern Zodiac signs. A little different than Western Astrology which goes by the month you are born, this goes by the year you are born. I was born in the Year of the Rat many moons ago lol. Got a lot to be thankful for and there were times I really wasn't feeling that way. After Katrina we New Orleanians were pretty beat up and I, like many others, was in a protracted funk. That's when I remembered a Louise Hay affirmation tape from the 80s where she told you to be grateful for everything. I got a journal and every morning I'd sit on my porch first thing and write a list of 21 things I was grateful for. Even though at that time it was hard some days to come up with stuff I stuck with it for a month. Then a month became 6 and then soon a year of being grateful. It was amazing the change it made within me and without. My attitude and life made a giant turn for the better. Now if ever I'm in a sad or scary place I do it again and it still helps. Today I remember everything on my list of 21 things and they are all still real for me. Give it a try if you're struggling and you'll see the shift too. Big hugs and bright blessings!

The planet of love, Venus, is slipping into the sign on the sea, Pisces, and everyone's feelings will flow fully thanks to this shift. Pisces is a very emotional sign and even when they are trying to hide their feelings, it's pretty impossible. Dreamy, visionary, spiritual and psychic, the sign of the fishes doesn't usually occupy themselves with the small stuff. Everything is big with them, like the ocean itself. Pisces women exude a natural beauty and both sexes have deep, soulful eyes that can cast a powerful spell. Venus is all about how we love and connect with the world around us and Pisces is all about living large. Folks should be feeling very generous this Valentine's and will be more apt to share those 3 magic words - I Love You. One thing to watch out for during the transit is the tendency to over do, over indulge and over commit. People will feel a need to share what's going on inside them and will want you to understand where they are coming from. Empathy is a big buzz word now cause it's easy to walk a mile in another's shoes and understand each other's vibes more fully. Mercury in Pisces is a great time to visualize too. Conceive it, believe it and you will achieve it. Brainstorms of ideas are likely as well as gaining insight into the future. Pisces is psychic by nature so pay attention to your dreams and urgings. Later this month, Mercury will go retrograde in Pisces so it'll be affecting us for a minute but pay attention to your deepest feelings and what they are trying to say that can help you live your best life. Watch out for patterns of behaviors that no longer serve your highest good and break bad habits that are out worn, out dated and stand in your way of positive momentum. This is A LOT of energy coming at us like the roar of a lion. The Moon will be in it's fullest potency and will be like a stage light being shone upon your authentic self. Being in the sig of Leo the vibe will likely feel like you are center stage and having your chance to shine. Drama is attractive for many cause Leos are the actors of the zodiac. This is usually a fun and festive time, especially in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Folks will want to be living out loud and this Moon is perfect for that. One thing going on though that I need to mention is the cluster, stellium, of planets in Leo's opposite sign, Aquarius. These 2 signs are total opposites and this will bring a bit of tension in the air. Be ready to see things very clearly with the light up above us showing us things we need to know. You can learn a bunch about yourself and others and could even have some psychic inspirations and insights if you keep your head clear. AstroAlert - Neptune in Aries - 1.26
Big deal happening in the heavens this week as the planet of illusion, Neptune, moves into the sign of action, Aries. This is an event that hasn't happened since the 1860s which was a time of upheaval, revolution and industrialization. Having spent the last 14 years in the sign of Pisces which is dream like and elusive, Neptune in Aries is like the universe throwing cold water on your head to wake you up from a long dream state. For many of us we haven't been able to see a clear path forward this past decade. While there have been beautiful moments, grasping reality has been difficult wherever you have Neptune or Pisces in your chart. We have all become well versed in our emotional natures as feelings have been overwhelming at times and it's been easy to get stuck in a world of fantasy and make believe which has often been hard to translate into our real world applications of our talents and ideas. Now that Neptune shifts into firey Aries we should be able to take all of the lessons of these past 14 years and put them to work for us in making our worlds, both individual and collective, more functional and forward moving. Aries is a wildcard though and often acts impulsively. Beware of the tendency to leap before you look. Also Neptune is one of the planetary aspects that provides us with intuition and empathy but instead of "feeling" things you may find it moves more to "knowing" things now. I'm interested in seeing how this will unfold in the world around us. Because Aries moves fast and furious we should see the changes pretty quickly. I'll write more about it as it keeps unfolding. For now I'll give thanks for what I've learned since 2012 and look for ways to direct my talents into action till it moves into Ta**us in 2040 which will change things with Neptune yet again.
