Birthmark Doula Collective Helping families have positive & empowering births. What is a doula? Why should I hire a doula?

A doula is a trained and experienced professional that provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and after birth, or in the postpartum period. A doula’s job is to completely support the pregnant woman and to help her to have an empowered and positive pregnancy, birth, and/or early parenting experience. Doula support has been shown to:
- Increase positive birth experiences for the woman (and her partner),
- Reduce the use of medical interventions (such as C-sections)
- Shorten labor time
- Reduce medical costs (fewer procedures, shorter stay)

We at Birthmark Doula Collective offer a range of support for parents through their baby’s feeding journey, including lactation visits, breastfeeding support circles, and our Express Milk Line.

We’re now accepting Cigna, Tricare, and Aetna insurance plans for lactation visits. We also offer sliding scale payments and don’t turn anyone away due to lack of funds.
