With the safety and health of the residents in mind, CMS has issued new guidance on nursing home visitors. Outlined below are the actions Ferncrest is taking within the guidelines of CMS and DHH:
1. SCREENING - Ferncrest will be implementing screening for ALL of our visitors.
a. If you refuse the mandatory screening, you will NOT be allowed in the facility. It is your right to refuse, but it is our right to deny you entry to the facility.
b. If you answer yes to any of the questions asked, you will NOT be allowed in the facility.
c. We will be taking temperatures as part of the screening process. Temperatures will be taking by holding a thermometer to your forehead (it will not actually touch your forehead). Temperatures will be recorded on the same sheet as your answers and will be kept in a secure location.
d. If you are coughing in the facility, you will be asked to leave.
2. LIMITING VISITORS – Ferncrest will be limiting visitors as of March 11, 2020. The procedure could change day to day. As new guidance comes out, our policies and procedures will change.
a. Visiting hours will be Monday through Friday 8am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 6pm. This is to ensure that all visitors are screened properly. If you have a concern about needing to visit family after hours please speak to administration or email lexisnunez@ferncrest.com.
b. If guidance comes out that we are to restrict visitors entirely, we will post a sign at the door and make a post on our page. This is not being enforced now, but as the cases in New Orleans area become more widespread, this is a possibility.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact administration. All of the procedures being put into place are for the residents’ safety and health and are within CMS guidelines.
