Last night, we raised a glass to celebrate our new office at St. Margaret's at Mercy! It was a pleasure to share more about our mission and services. Quarterly, St. Margaret's Hospice grants a wish for one of our
patients. This quarter, Ms. Gaynell Johnson was selected for our
“Grant a Wish” program. Last night, she was joined by her family for a lovely dinner at St. Margaret's at Mercy.

Chef Rickey Hall with Brown Sugar BBQ and Catering volunteered to prepare dinner for the family. Shanae Barnes with D&D Treats donated dessert.

Before dinner, Ms. Johnson was pampered and had her hair and
nails done. The Johnsons' want to share their appreciation for this special day and are grateful for the generosity of our community!

Quarterly, St. Margaret's Hospice grants a wish for one of our patients. Last quarter, Mr. Junious Turner was selected for our “Grant a Wish” program.

Due to his health condition and inability to travel without medical assistance or coordination, Mr. Turner is unable to do the things that he loves. His wish was to get his haircut at a local barber school and to take his wife out to eat. Thanks to the generosity of several area businesses that wish came true!

We are so excited to announce the start of our St. Margaret's Hospice "Grant a Wish" initiative. Through this initiative, our elders are allowed to make one wish that they would like to have granted. We try not to put a limit on the wish and encourage the elders to think “outside of the box,” and we are committed to do everything in our power to make it happen.

Today, we were able to grant our first wish thanks to the help of some special members in our community. As a true New Orleanian, Adele Blanchard wished for a seafood dinner with her son, as well as a pair of earrings with the initial “B,” to replace a pair that she lost over the years. Chef Cody Bolotte from Cody B’s at the Market came out to St. Margaret’s Nursing Home to prepare a special 5 course meal featuring soft shell crab (her favorite!) for her and her son. The team at Diamonds Direct brought her wish full circle by providing the pair of gold initial earrings. Last but not least, as we all know, a New Orleans meal is not complete without some entertainment. With that being said, local musicians “KatieCat and Cain” put the finishing touches on the event by providing a wonderful musical performance.

St. Margaret's Hospice would like to extend our greatest "THANK YOU!" to all of those who helped grant this wish. We look forward to granting many more wishes in the times to come!

On behalf of the entire St. Margaret's Family, we would like to extend our greatest "THANK YOU!" to all of you who contributed to the St. Margaret's Foundation during the GiveNOLA campaign. Because of your kindness and generosity, we raised a total of $4860, which we will put towards fulfilling our mission of finding solutions for vulnerable populations and improving the physical environments in long-term care facilities. Thank you for helping the elders in our community flourish in all aspects of life.
