Bob Holzman has been a full-time massage therapist since 1999. As a lifelong athlete, Bob quickly gravitated toward specializing in orthopedic and sports massage. Throughout the span of his career, he has consistently worked with professional, elite and recreational athletes, dancers and performing artists. He has worked for Cirque du Soleil's Amaluna and KURIOS in Seattle, WA and has traveled the

country with the National tour of the Broadway show SWING!, in addition to being a sports massage therapist for the West Point Army football team. In addition to working with athletes and performing artists, he works with individuals who have chronic and acute pain, as well as those recovering from physical trauma and orthopedic surgery. His work centers on addressing the cause of pain rather than the symptoms alone, therefore increasing the likelihood of long-term benefits from the massage. When he's not at the office, you can find Bob trail running, mountain biking, rock climbing or snowshoeing with his wife, a physical therapist, and their dogs Duma and Joy. Bob is also an EMT-B and works night shifts at New Paltz Rescue Squad a couple days a month.

"Wawrzyniak credits her progress to Sarah Plumer-Holzman, a senior physical therapist at NYU Langone’s Harkness Center for Dance Injuries and a fellow climber.

Plumer-Holzman focused on Wawrzyniak’s left ankle, hip, foot and gait to get her moving properly again.

“She needed to learn how to get her foot to fully relax on the ground,” Plumer-Holzman explained. “As soon as she got into a squat or just a step onto that foot, her foot just wanted to roll to the outside, and her toes wanted to scrunch.”

She prescribed a series of exercises, including raising the calf and standing on a balancing disc, that Wawrzyniak still does at home."

Yesterday on my way home from town, I got a call from a YELP rep that wanted to sell me advertising. I used to get calls from YELP all the time, but it has been over a year, so I wasn't expecting it.
Before letting him go into his sales pitch, I told hime I was going to save us both a lot of time and explained when I don't need YELP. His response was "wow, I chose the wrong career". We both had a good laugh and then he asked if he could ask for my professional opinion on something. He has been suffering from sciatica, for which he had received surgery for two years ago but was still in pain. I gave him my suggestions and some pain education, for which he was very thankfully for.

How we we interact with people is always a choice. Being kind isn't always an option in life, but when it is, it always feels better than being unkind.
