To honor the many veterans on our team, two years ago we installed the first phase of our Honor Wall. Later we added photos as our veterans them and wanted to share a little bit about some of them on this day set aside to honor all our Veterans for their service to our country.
Mark served in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. He set up and serviced generators. He has worked at BayCare for 10 years as an electrician II. He says the Army Reserve taught him, “the team was very important to get the job done. I also learned how electricity and generators work, and that is what I work with at Morton Plant North Bay.”
Eric, a senior master sergeant, served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and the South Carolina Air National Guard. He served in numerous leadership and operational roles within security forces, supporting missions around the world. He deployed in support of Joint Task Force Bravo (Honduras), Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Air Expeditionary Force (AEF) Kuwait, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Eric has been with BayCare for more than 10 years, starting on third shift at Mease Dunedin Hospital. Now, he is a chemistry lead laboratory technologist here at Morton Plant North Bay. Eric said, “Both my military service and my time at BayCare have shaped me into the person I am today – grounded in pride, integrity and grit. … These two paths have blended seamlessly, reinforcing my commitment to excellence and teamwork.”
Steve was in the U.S. Army for two years and the U.S. Army Reserve for another six as a communications sergeant. Steve is a physical therapist assistant here in outpatient services. He has worked for BayCare and Morton Plant North Bay Hospital for almost 13 years. Steve said, "The military helped me with discipline, interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail and personal accountability."
Tom served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation machinist’s mate 2nd class (helicopter mechanic). He was part of the hurricane Katrina relief efforts and received a U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corp achievement medal because the detachment saved more than 1,000 lives. He also took part in counter narcotics missions. Tom has been a biomedical equipment technician with BayCare for almost two years. He said, “I have pride in my service in the Navy, and it gave me confidence.”
