Caliper Wellness

Caliper Wellness Personalized healthcare, counseling, and therapeutics. Every person is unique. Why Caliper?

Addressing both mental and physical health issues shouldn’t be a one size fits all approach. At Caliper, our goal is help our patients live better lives by addressing both the physical and mental challenges they are facing. We treat patients with precision through an integrated approach that combines the use of traditional prescription medication, off-label prescription remedies and therapy sessions. Meet Andrew Hewitt, , PMHNP

Andrew Hewitt is a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He attended Walden University to obtain his MSN in Psychiatric Nursing. He began working on his MSN while working at a local inpatient behavioral health unit for several years. His experience as an RN is varied, as he has been in the ICU and ER departments, where he found his passion for mental health. Before becoming an RN, Andrew worked as an EMT/Paramedic for a local 9-1-1 service. Andrew is a self-proclaimed “pop culture geek.” Just ask him about his Funko Pop collection or the latest movies. He is a self-taught cook that has a passion for feeding people and making them laugh with his dad jokes. About the Company

We believe in providing empathetic and holistic care to his patients. Caliper places an emphasis on the relationship between physical and mental health. Founded by Andrew Hewitt, with his wife Jennifer, who is an RN, provides patients with holistic and integrated forms of therapy options that are evidence-based. Our goals are to help patients of all ages make small yet important changes toward their mental health and to develop effective coping life skills to improve their overall well-being. Andrew’s approach is “one foot in front the other” in regards to those changes.

✨ New on the Caliper Wellness Blog ✨

Mental health stigma can make it hard to talk about our experiences... especially for young Black women facing cultural, familial, and societal pressures. In our latest post, Zakiya Johnson PMHNP-BC breaks down where stigma comes from, how it shows up, and meaningful steps toward breaking silence and healing.

💬 It’s a thoughtful, compassionate read for anyone who wants to understand mental health stigma more deeply or support someone who’s struggling.

When you’ve been through hard things, care should never feel rushed, cold, or clinical. It should feel safe. Heard. Human.

That’s what trauma-informed care really means.
At Caliper Wellness, healing isn’t about slapping a label on symptoms. It’s about listening to your story, creating a safe environment, and building a personalized plan that supports your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.

Because trauma shows up differently for everyone, your care should too.

If you’re looking for compassionate, trauma-informed therapy, mental health support, or medication management in a space where you feel respected and understood, you don’t have to do this alone. We’re here to walk with you every step of the way.

Ready to start your healing journey? Reach out to schedule a consultation today.

Sometimes the world feels heavier than usual.

The winter months can feel long, the start of a new year can feel daunting, and you might find yourself feeling stuck, overwhelmed, distraught or unsure where to begin and that’s okay.

You’re allowed to slow down.
You’re allowed to ask for support.
You don’t have to carry everything on your own.

At Caliper Wellness, we’re here to support you, whether that means talking things through, learning new tools, or simply having a space where you feel seen and understood. We offer both in-person and virtual appointments to meet you where you are.

If this resonates, we’re here when you’re ready.

Sundays with Sarah 🤍 | Therapist Spotlight

In this reel, Sarah Shortridge, one of our amazing therapists here at Caliper Wellness, reflects on something many people experience but rarely talk about:
the hardest part isn’t always the crisis it’s what comes after.

When life slows down and things are “technically fine,” the nervous system doesn’t automatically reset. After long periods of survival, the body may still be bracing, scanning, and holding onto what it never had space to feel. That’s often when emotions surface — not because something is wrong, but because the system finally feels safe enough to exhale.

Sarah’s work helps clients make sense of this in-between space, the transition from survival mode to actually living ….so unfelt emotion doesn’t turn into self-blame or confusion.

Sometimes the hard part isn’t surviving.
It’s learning how to live once you’re no longer in survival mode.

At Caliper Wellness, we believe healing happens best when people feel seen, heard, and supported.

We’re big on human connection. On real conversations. On taking the time to understand who you are…not just what you’re struggling with. Because you’re not a chart, a diagnosis, or a checklist of symptoms. You’re a whole person with a story, experiences, and a life that deserves thoughtful care.

Our approach is rooted in community and collaboration. We walk alongside our patients, offering care that brings mental health, physical health, and life experiences together, the way they’re meant to be treated.

No one-size-fits-all plans.
No rushed appointments.
Just personalized care, expert support, and a team that genuinely cares about your journey.

This is the Caliper Wellness difference.
And if you’re here, we’re glad you found us. 💗

✨ Merida, Motherhood, and the Path to Partnership ✨
By Andrew J. Hewitt, PMHNP-BC, Caliper Wellness

Pixar’s Brave isn’t just a coming-of-age story; it’s a powerful lens into the real-life push and pull between adolescent autonomy and a mother’s instinct to guide and protect. In his newest blog, Andrew J. Hewitt, PMHNP-BC, breaks down what Merida and Queen Elinor teach us about attachment, emotion regulation, conflict repair, and the evolving mother–daughter bond.

Drawing on 2024–2025 research, Andrew explores why misattunement (when guidance feels like control), not conflict itself, drives distress in teens. He outlines evidence-backed strategies that help families shift from power struggles to partnership, including autonomy-supportive parenting, collaborative boundaries, and early, consistent repair.

If you’re navigating adolescence at home, or supporting a family through it, this blog offers a hopeful roadmap toward understanding, connection, and growth. 🌿🏹💛
