Caliper Wellness

Caliper Wellness Personalized healthcare, counseling, and therapeutics. Every person is unique. Why Caliper?

Addressing both mental and physical health issues shouldn’t be a one size fits all approach. At Caliper, our goal is help our patients live better lives by addressing both the physical and mental challenges they are facing. We treat patients with precision through an integrated approach that combines the use of traditional prescription medication, off-label prescription remedies and therapy sessions. Meet Andrew Hewitt, , PMHNP

Andrew Hewitt is a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He attended Walden University to obtain his MSN in Psychiatric Nursing. He began working on his MSN while working at a local inpatient behavioral health unit for several years. His experience as an RN is varied, as he has been in the ICU and ER departments, where he found his passion for mental health. Before becoming an RN, Andrew worked as an EMT/Paramedic for a local 9-1-1 service. Andrew is a self-proclaimed “pop culture geek.” Just ask him about his Funko Pop collection or the latest movies. He is a self-taught cook that has a passion for feeding people and making them laugh with his dad jokes. About the Company

We believe in providing empathetic and holistic care to his patients. Caliper places an emphasis on the relationship between physical and mental health. Founded by Andrew Hewitt, with his wife Jennifer, who is an RN, provides patients with holistic and integrated forms of therapy options that are evidence-based. Our goals are to help patients of all ages make small yet important changes toward their mental health and to develop effective coping life skills to improve their overall well-being. Andrew’s approach is “one foot in front the other” in regards to those changes.

The Psychological Impact of Controlling Behavior by Andrew J Hewitt, PMHNP-BC

Controlling behavior in relationships is more than “toxic” — it can quietly unravel a person’s mental health. As a PMHNP-BC, I see how coercive control leads to anxiety, depression, loss of identity, and even PTSD. Many people don’t realize the emotional abuse they’re experiencing is the root of their distress.

In my latest blog, I break down:
- How controlling partners impact the brain and emotional well-being
- The hidden signs of coercive control
- Why these relationships create trauma responses
- How mental health professionals help survivors reclaim their confidence and sense of self

Is it just “mad love”—or something deeper?

Harley Quinn’s journey from toxic entanglement to fierce independence holds more than pop-culture intrigue—it reflects real stories of trauma, identity, and healing.

In our latest blog, Andrew J. Hewitt, PMHNP-BC, explores what Harley’s evolution teaches us about intimate partner violence, survivor empowerment, and how therapy can help us rewrite harmful narratives into healing ones. If you’ve ever seen yourself in her chaos—or her courage—this one’s for you.
