The nervous system should be able to reset naturally from Sympathetic to Parasympathetic mode. Unfortunately, prolonged states in Sympathetic (fight or flight mode) lead to many bodily ills and creates space for anger, tension, lack of motivation, inflammation of the body and so many more dysfunctions. The body in totality becomes stuck. Getting a massage or taking a gentle yoga class gives the mind, body and spirit the opportunity to reset the Parasympathetic (peace and relax mode).
