National Women’s Health Month is a reminder that prevention matters. 🌸

HPV self collection is emerging as an option for some women, and patient choice is important. But it does not replace a comprehensive wellness visit. Pap smears remain critical for detecting precancer and cancer early.

Since Covid, many women have delayed care. I am seeing more precancer and cancer as a result. If you have had abnormal Pap results, precancer, or cancer in the past, regular gynecologic follow up is essential.

Public service reminder: the HPV vaccine is approved for girls and women up to age 45 and is covered by most insurance plans. Prevention, screening, and informed choices work best together.

Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) affects up to 1 in 4 women of reproductive age and can significantly impact quality of life. Symptoms may include:
✔️ Heavy or painful periods
✔️ Irregular bleeding between cycles
✔️ Very short (35 days) cycles
✔️ Bleeding after menopause
