Nope.. peeing your pants is never normal. No matter what anyone says 🙂

How does pelvic floor therapy help?

I’m so glad you asked.

We find the root cause of what’s going on and treat that.🤪🤷🏼‍♀️

We treat the whole-body, don’t expect you to “just do your kegels,” and we’re definitely not hooking you up to a machine for 30 minutes to squeeze, contract, & relax😅

Yep! We want to see that tongue suctioned to the roof of the mouth.

The roof of the mouth is the floor of the nose and for proper development, breathing, and swallowing, we want proper tongue posture.

If you’re seeing the tongue rest low in the mouth, your little one may have oral tension, incoordination, weakness, or even a restriction.

It’s important that allllll of these things are addressed when your little is having feeding difficulty at the breast or bottle, snoring, experiencing reflux or colic, or just plain old being an unhappy around feeds.

I see these mistakes too often👇🏻

1. Accepting that pain is a normal part of pregnancy

We’ve all heard it.

“Well you are pregnant.”
“That’s normal you’re 9 months pregnant.”
No. There are SO MANY options to help you have a comfortable pregnancy and one of my favorites is prevention🤘🏻SPD, sciatica, p***c pain, etc.. you don’t have to squeal every time you move. I don’t care what anyone says.

2. Expecting everything to just unfold “naturally” without preparation.

Yes, you can do nothing and your baby will be born. Like literally nothing. BUT that does not mean that you are prepared for the mind marathon that is labor.
It’s almost 2026, there is WAY too much help out there to go into labor unprepared.

3. Waiting to see a pelvic floor therapist until after birth.

Sure, postpartum pelvic floor therapy is essential but waiting until after baby is born? Missed opportunity to learn about your body, prepare your body & mind, and optimize your healing post birth.

If you’re pregnant- start now! You’ll be so glad you did.

For low risk pregnancies, the growing body of evidence that shows the benefits of exercise during pregnancy are GRAND. 🤟🏻

Strength training specifically!

Pregnancy isn’t a time to just take 9 months off movement. Sure, rest is important but so👏🏻is👏🏻movement👏🏻

It’s a season of change and a great time to evaluate the current status of your health and find ways to improve it (safely).

TRUST ME, you’ll be glad you did.

Being able to move without pain, stay symptom free, and continue to distance run (modified everything) at 33-34 weeks pregnant was a huge accomplishment for me.

Disclaimer: this is not medical advice and should not be taken as such. Any precautions from your medical provider should be followed. I’m a pelvic floor therapist but I’m not YOUR PFT (but I can be🤪). There are special circumstances where exercise IS contraindicated. Work with your PFT to create a plan that matches your goals, needs, and specific situation.

And thats on PROACTIVE CARE 🫡

Sure- a release unlocks new range of motion. Cool.. now what do we do with it?

The release is like gassing up a car. It’s ready to go but you have to be taught how to drive it.

Therapy = Driving lessons without the stress or anxiety🤣

& even better YET! Therapy prior to release? NOW we’re cooking with Crisco. 🤪 Parents feel prepared, they know what tools to have on hand at home to help with wound care, and they have a plan for the exercises and stretches that are going to optimize their release experience.
