Small nutrition changes can make a big difference over time.

Try building your plate using the “half vegetables” rule: fill about half your plate with vegetables or fruits, and the other half with protein and whole grains.

It’s a small change that can help support balanced nutrition and long-term health.

Many people don’t realize how closely diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and kidney disease are connected.

When one is present, it can increase the risk of others over time. That’s why understanding your metabolic health is so important.

These conditions are becoming more common, but research is helping us learn more and find better ways to care for patients.

At Suncoast Clinical Research, we’re proud to support studies focused on heart and metabolic health right here in our community.

In recognition of National Kidney Month, Suncoast Clinical Research is taking the chance to raise awareness about Chronic Kidney Disease (KDN) — which affects over 35 million people in the U.S. alone. Kidney disease is a silent disease, in which symptoms may only show up once it's reached advanced stages. Kidney health greatly impacts many conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and many more —it is now more important than ever to stress a proactive approach to kidney disease via early detection, lifestyle changes that promote kidney health such as good nutrition and blood pressure management.

As we continue our research on prevention-focused treatments and chronic disease programs, we must highlight the importance of sleep and it's vital role in overall health.

Sleep has a massive effect on many areas of health, such as: heart, immune system, brain function, and mental health -- experiencing poor to no sleep over long periods of time may lead to increased risk for conditions such as hypertension, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and mood disorders.

Prioritizing consistent, good quality sleep is one of the great ways to improve certain aspects of health in our day-to-day and helps reduce risk for serious conditions later on.
