Seasons Greetings!

We were very happy to be fortunate enough to help families with a Thanksgiving meal. We are grateful to have a community who rallies behind doing good for no other reason than it’s the right thing to do.

Our local snowmobile club, The Wire Bridge Sno Travelers, have generously offered to help this Christmas. Their generosity, coupled with the leftover from the Thanksgiving fundraiser, we’d like to help a few local families ensure a hot meal during the holidays.

Please reach out privately if you or anyone you know, could use a meal this coming holiday and we’ll help get you the food- all you gotta do is cook and enjoy.

I learned recently that the little food cupboard at Webster Library in Kingfield is almost empty. Heading into next month we have pushed the food drive forward a little to get it stocked back up! Thank you so much to the parks family and others for generously donating to our food drive. Each non perishable donation gets you a ticket for a a chance to win a WMDC sweatshirt! Please donate if you can. WMDC had a HUGE donation last year and I’d love to provide that to the community again! WMDC has also partnered with and to provide 10 local families with a smoked turkey and all of the fixings for thanksgiving. In need? Please reach out!

As we approach the holidays and what appears to be a time of greater food insecurity, especially in our rural communities we are working to do what we can to keep people fed.

We are running a holiday food drive raffle, $5 per ticket or $20 for 5 tickets- must be a patient to win an the prize bag is insane. 100% of dollars raised goes to filling the food cupboards outside the libraries in New Portland and Kingfield, and helping local food banks as much as possible.

There will be a tote at the shop starting this Tuesday for non-perishables. 10 non perishables earns a raffle ticket, we’ll give you a card to keep track of your tickets earned.

We’ve also heard from who is offering to help 10 different families this Thanksgiving with a smoked turkey. will be helping Smoked and SLC fill said baskets. If you would like to contribute specifically to the baskets, you can drop items at either the shop or the dance studio. We need the fixings for 10 Turkey Day dinners.

This brings me to my most important point of this post- if you or anyone you know needs help with food, please reach out privately. We don’t care about anything other than helping as many people as we can. Everyone needs a little help sometimes, and this year probably more than ever. Communities stand strong when we lift up our neighbors.

Just a reminder that I'll be open on October 4th at my usual location outside of Sugar Leaf Co 's 3rd annual Croptober Fest event. I'm considering bringing back my mac 'n cheese that day.

This will be my last day open this year. Not sure how things are looking for next year. I'll be back in some form but not sure what that will be just yet.

We are starting to have a few extra tomatoes from the indoor garden. There are a few ready at the store, more than organic, picked this morning.

We are also expanding our farm this summer. We’re adding space for a diversified vegetable patch that will be available at the shop throughout the season. Locally grown, organic produce we can all afford.

As some of you already know, our dear friend and SLC family member, Ryan Mulherin, is starting a new adventure and headed home to the county. He’s starting a new chapter, getting back to his roots and will be closer to his family.

We are grateful beyond words for his support, help, and most importantly friendship. He has been a great member of our little tribe here in New Portland and he will be missed.

This Tuesday is sadly his last day with us.

We’ll be closed on Tuesdays for now as we figure out the future of the shop schedule.

We wish him all the best life has offer and we’ll definitely catch him on the flip.
