In honor of Black History Month, we would like to highlight one of the many black leaders who laid the groundwork for more equitable care.

𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐜𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔.𝐒., devoted her career to caring for formerly enslaved people who had little access to medical support. Her work emphasized compassion, dignity, and community-centered care—values that remain essential in long-term and senior care today.

At Monarch, we recognize that quality care has always depended on equity, advocacy, and meeting people where they are.

Today we had our New Year's Eve party. We started the morning off with Mimosas and ended the afternoon with a champagne 🥂 party.

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme cold warning from Thursday evening until Friday morning for much of Minnesota. Dangerously cold wind chills are expected by Thursday night and Friday morning.

An extreme cold warning is in effect for Minnesota starting Thursday evening, when wind chills could reach 40 and 50 below zero in much of the state.

The record cold high temperature for Jan. 23 in the Twin Cities is 16 below zero, set in 1936. So while Friday's blast of frigid air will be dangerous, and doesn't happen all the often, it still won't break a record.
