Within the last month, my wife Trica and I decided to start our own commercial cleaning company. So far it's been exactly what I imagined it would be. Along the way we have learned some valuable information from our coaches at The Janitorial Entrepreneur. Big shout out to Mike and Jess.
Now that we are in the hiring stage, I just wanted to share some info that was passed on to me when considering hiring employees.
Consider the experience.Cleaning is a very physical job. Make sure they know what to expect and what you expect from them with the experience.
Are they self motivated? A lot of cleaning employees should be able to complete task with no help. Quality control can not follow up to every job each day.
How friendly are they? Would you want to hang out with them? Do they say please and thank you and show courtesy?
Customer Commitment. LOYALTY
Discuss training. Training employees is your investment in them. Training encourages new hires to excel in the workplace, maybe help them realize there is room for advancement in the company.
When you find the right employee fit for your company, here are a few things to keep in mind.
Be Flexible. Let them know you have a flexible schedule. This might be what keeps them with you.
RESPECT you workers. Build a bond with them. Treat them with dignity.
Value your employees. Let them know you are there for them.
Offer bonuses. Offer a bonus for quality work or attendance.
