🐾 Pet Wednesday: Community Spotlight 🐾

This week, meet K-9 Loki, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois proudly serving the City of Edgewater alongside his handler, K-9 Officer Eichhorn. 🐕🚓

Certified in patrol through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and narcotics detection with the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association, K-9 Loki is a dedicated and highly skilled member of the force.

He’s credited with assisting in the arrest of several violent offenders and the seizure of narcotics — from street-level amounts all the way up to trafficking quantities. 💪

While K-9 Loki may look a little goofy off duty, don’t be fooled — when it’s time to work, he’s all business and exceptionally good at what he does!

We’re proud to highlight K-9 Loki and Officer Eichhorn for their continued commitment to keeping the Edgewater community safe. 💙

🧠 November is Men’s Mental Health Month

The statistics are sobering — millions of men experience depression or anxiety every year, but less than half ever seek help. Men die by su***de four times more often than women, and many cope silently through anger, substance use, or isolation.

For first responders, these challenges can be even more intense. The culture of strength and service often discourages vulnerability — but asking for help is not weakness; it’s courage. 💪

If someone asks how you’re doing, be honest. And if you’re checking on someone — ask twice. Sometimes “I’m fine” is a mask for “I’m struggling.”

Your mental health matters. You matter.

🐾 Pet Wednesday: Community Spotlight 🐾

This week, we’re excited to feature Jackson, a 7-year-old Dalmatian with a heart as big as his spots! 🤍🖤

Rescued from an organization in Atlanta, Georgia three and a half years ago, Jackson has been a beloved part of his family ever since — and he’s extra special as the dog-son of an Edgewater Police Department officer! 👮‍♂️🐶

His beautiful brown spots turn heads wherever he goes, but it’s his gentle heart and playful spirit that truly make him shine. ✨

When he’s not snuggled up on the couch for a nap — his favorite pastime — Jackson can be found gleefully tearing apart his toys (and loving every second of it!). Even when he makes a little mess, that goofy, happy face always brings smiles to everyone around him.

Loyal, loving, and full of personality, Jackson is the perfect reminder of the joy that rescue pets bring into our lives. ❤️

This week, meet K-9 Toki, a 4-year-old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix and the trusted partner of Deputy Bergeron with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. 🐕🚓

Imported from Hungary and paired with Deputy Bergeron in March 2022, K-9 Toki is a full-service patrol dog specializing in criminal apprehension, tracking, building and area searches, narcotics detection, and evidence recovery. His serious, no-nonsense attitude makes him an ideal and dependable partner on the streets.

When he’s off duty, Toki loves nothing more than his favorite toy — a Kong on a rope. 🦴
