Meet the Team - Dr. Fahad Naveed, M.D., Principal

Dr. Naveed earned his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences, A.P India and has over 21 years of experience in new drug development. He has worked in various stages of drug development from phase1-Phase IV Studies. He is well published in the fields of medical oncology, bio-immunomodulation, and targeted therapies. His work has earned him recognition in the field of medicine. Dr. Naveed has focused the last decade of his research on better understanding the endocannabinoid system and the potential therapeutic benefits of Cannabis. He leads a strong team of experienced researchers and scientists at Elixir Biotherapeutics and strives to bring pharmaceutical-grade formulation technology to the cannabis industry.

Additionally, Dr. Naveed has been the CEO of Pioneer Research Solutions in Houston since 2008. Dr. Naveed is also the Founder and Owner of Clinical Cloud Inc., a research software company with disruptive technology, Clinical Cloud.

Sana Irshad has a Bachelor's degree in Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship from the University of Houston. Her experience includes serving as the Director of Business Development at Pioneer Research Solutions for seven years where her primary focus was to bring in new clinical trials to the company. She has worked with pharmaceutical companies overseeing their projects/clinical trials from start to finish. She brings a deep knowledge on running day-to-day operations, budget negotiations with pharmaceutical companies, meeting patient recruitment targets and ensuring clinical trial compliance with the FDA.

Jessica Zoellner has a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting, with a minor in Economics from Oklahoma State University as well as a Master’s degree in Accounting and Financial Analysis from Northeastern State University. Her experience includes serving as the Chief Financial Officer for several cannabis companies.

Meet the Team – Ayyappan Subbiah, PhD – Chief Scientific Officer

Ayyappan Subbiah obtained a PhD in 1998 in the field of Material Sciences from the Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore, India. He brings more than 15 years of R&D experience and has published ~30 peer reviewed articles and holds three patents. He came to the University of California – Santa Barbara in 1998 as an industrial post-doctoral fellow then moved to General Motors Corporation in Michigan as an industrial post-doctoral researching in environmental catalysis.
At Apryon Technology in Atlanta, he worked on developing ICEWAND, a copper/silver containing product for cleaning algae and other biological impurities in ice machines. He also worked as a scientist at Delphi Catalyst, ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66. While at Phillips 66, he worked on biofuels derived from algae and wood chips, and other projects.

To pursue an entrepreneurial quest, he started a bio-tech company called Cryogen in 2007. There he successfully developed a point of care diagnostic instrument called “ISOPALM,” a compact isothermal nucleic acid amplification instrument. The first unit was sold to the CDC in Atlanta, Georgia. This product was a result of successful international collaboration between the India based company Raani Aisuwarya Associates and Cryogen. In continued pursuit of his entrepreneurial quest, he cofounded Sarvan Solutions.
