Lisa Shannon, CEO of Allina Health, was on site November 18th thanking care team members and acknowledging New Ulm Medical Center’s (NUMC) achievements and awards.

A special recognition was given for New Ulm Medical Center’s overall performance in 2025 as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital, placing NUMC in the top 2% of all hospitals in the country in this category.

Last Thursday evening, the New Ulm Allina Hospice team gathered with the loved ones of patients who passed away over the past year for the annual Hospice Service of Remembrance. This meaningful event offers families a chance to honor and reflect on the lives of those they’ve lost.

This year, multiple departments at New Ulm Medical Center came together to transform the NUMC auditorium into a warm, comforting space—creating an environment where families could feel how deeply their loved ones matter to our care teams and to the community. They are truly grateful to everyone who helped make this evening possible.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Nneka Chukwu to the care team at Allina Health New Ulm Medical Center!

Dr. Chukwu is the first rheumatologist at NUMC and one of only a few in the region. She is now accepting patients living with conditions that affect joints, muscles and connective tissues—such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and lupus.
