We were excited to see our friends from Eagles 4 preschool today! We had fun making Valentines and listening to their songs!

In January we celebrated our Recreation Dept! They were treated to some meals, snacks, and goodie bags! Just a small way for us to show how much we appreciate them. Activities is so much more than bingo and cards. We play a variety of games - physical and intellectual, run exercise groups, host mens group, social hour, fancy nails, baking, weekly crafts, special events, theme days, sport contests, show movies, celebrate Holidays, community events, etc. They work seven days a week, and most evenings til almost 8pm We also work with schools and volunteer groups so that there are weekly church services, musical entertainers, MLC students hosting game nights, hand maids weekly rosary group, penpal letters, student interns, preschool classes, presentors, and more!!! We have many volunteers that help make our programs so much better through donating their time, and money! Thank you recreation team for all you do- you make a huge difference in our residents lives!

Carmen Broste,RN - Director of Nursing - we would like to Congratulate you on your 35 year work Anniversary!!! Carmens dedication overflows into everything she does at Oak Hills including (see picture below) helping at our fundraising events like the bowling event and ice cream social. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is passionate about the care we provide and our mission at Oak Hills! She started at Highland Manor as a nurses aide, then went on to become a charge nurse, case manager and DON! Most Dir of nursing in long term care only stay for a couple of years as it is such a stressful position. Another way that Carmen has shown how much Oak Hills means to her, by continuing to stay with our team and work everyday to make sure we are providing the best care and place to live for our residents, and work environment our staff! Carmen we appreciate you and all the hard work you have done and continue to do! You deserve to be celebrated! Thank you!

Congratulations Deb Webster on your retirement!!! Deb is retiring after 23 yrs at Oak Hills Living Center! However her career in health care and long term care goes back much further than that. Deb is a nurse and has worked in about every role you can - from being in medical records to household coordinator to human resources and everything in between. Her knowledge of so many different behind the scenes systems is going to be greatly missed. When staff had questions the first person people would think to ask is Deb. Truly a guru and expert in many aspects. Her dedication and commitment shows how much she cares about the residents, staff, and families. As much as we will miss her we wish her the absolute best in her much deserved retirement!

Last week we were able to host the Network New Ulm Youth group for a luncheon, tour, and presentation about our facility. As part of their visit we had them meet with four residents and provided questions for them to ask the residents to get to know them. It was an eye opening experience as they got to hear about their lives growing up, and different things they had experienced. The goal of Network New Ulm Youth is to develop leadership skills while creating a snese of community awareness. I think for many visiting with the residents was the best part of the stop. Our seniors are a huge part of our community and we have so much we can learn from them.
