Penni Shelton has a look at the Aries New Moon and I couldn't have said it any better! 🌞🌘♈️💥🔥
New Moon at 27° Aries
Friday, April 17th at 7:51 am Eastern Time
If there were ever a lunation to consciously set intentions for the future, this one carries real impact, because of where it is forming and who is gathered around it.
This New Moon takes place in the final stretch of Aries, a part of the zodiac that carries a sense of urgency, ripeness, and inevitability. Aries is the sign of beginnings, but at 27°, we are no longer standing at the starting line wondering if we should begin. We are standing at a threshold where something inside of us already knows that it must.
Over the past several days, the Sun has been moving through a conjunction with Chiron, illuminating a pain point, something that may not have been fully seen or acknowledged before. As the Moon now joins the Sun, this New Moon plants a seed directly in that same space. Not because everything has been resolved or perfected, but right there, within the truth of what has been revealed. Eris is also closely involved in this configuration, adding a layer of disruption that refuses to let anything remain hidden or suppressed.
There is a clarity moving through this lunation that reflects the simple reality that something can no longer be ignored. For some, this may feel like a breaking point, while for others, it may feel like relief. Truth has a way of simplifying things, even when it arrives abruptly, because it draws a line where one could not be drawn before.
Deepening this lunation even further is the fact that this late degree of Aries falls within the final decan of the sign, a portion that is ruled by Venus rather than Mars. Venus is currently at home in Ta**us, where she is strong, grounded, and deeply rooted in her own values. This shifts the tone of the lunation in a meaningful way. While the Aries impulse to act is still very present, it is being filtered through a more discerning lens that asks whether what is being initiated is truly aligned, sustainable, and worth the energy it will require over time. This feels like a conscious beginning that carries an awareness of what we are actually choosing to build.
There is also a symbolic correspondence here that echoes this same theme. This portion of Aries is associated with the Four of Wands in the tarot, a card that speaks to stability after initiation, to crossing a threshold, and to establishing something that is solid enough to be recognized and held. When we place that alongside everything else present in the sky, it becomes clear that this New Moon is not simply about starting something new, but about beginning something that has the potential to take root and endure.
Surrounding all of this is a broader concentration of energy in Aries that amplifies the field. Mars, the ruler of Aries, is present, strengthening the call to act. Mercury is here as well, attempting to process, translate, and articulate what is emerging. Saturn adds a layer of responsibility and asks what we are truly prepared to commit to, while Neptune is dissolving old identities even as it begins to seed new ones. This lunation does not stand alone, but exists within a much larger field that is asking each of us, in our own way, who we are becoming and what we are ready to initiate from that place.
If you feel something clarifying or shifting your direction, you are not imagining it. Something has been revealed that you can no longer unknow, and something within you is no longer willing to continue as it has. This New Moon marks a threshold where a decision begins to take shape, not always through words, but through energy, orientation, and the choices that follow.
This New Moon asks for a clear, aligned step in the direction of something that feels true, is right in time, and is worth building over the long term.
