Do you feel like your whole day is spent thinking about what you should (or shouldn’t) eat next? Worried about what you’ll eat for your next meal? “Resisting temptations” or feeing like you are “out of control” around food?

Contrary to what diet culture or your eating disorder says, you don’t need more “willpower,” you actually need more food. Let that sink in!

Of course it feels great to plan a meal we’re looking forward to and we’re humans, we need food to survive! So of course we have to spend some energy thinking about and planning meals. But if your mind is consumed by food thoughts it’s a big sign that you aren’t eating enough.

Where can you start? Here are some ideas:
✨Eat breakfast (with multiple food groups)!
✨Focus on consistency. If you have difficulty tuning into hunger cues, this may mean starting out eating on a loose schedule or routine.
✨Don’t skip out on carbs at meals, this is your brain and body’s main energy source!
✨Fat is your friend, for both satiety and flavor.
✨Aim to include at least two food groups for snacks. Pair that apple with some cheese and crackers, or add granola to a yogurt.

As we work towards a healthier relationship with food and our body, we often need to re-examine our relationship with movement/exercise as well. We’ve all heard that exercise is “healthy,” but what does that actually mean?

If you use exercise as a punishment (or have had it forced upon you as that in our past), compare yourself to what others are doing, tell yourself you “should” be doing more, or avoid exercise entirely because of so many negative associations, it’s likely there’s some healing work to be done. You deserve to participate in movement that feels enjoyable and good for your body, whatever that looks like right now. Asking yourself some of the questions above is a good place to start to examine what is healthy for YOU in your relationship with movement.

Maybe that’s giving yourself permission to rest and slow down, maybe that’s trying something you haven’t done in a while, or maybe it’s taking a risk and trying something completely new!

Our clients are some of the bravest, resilient and most amazing souls we have ever met! It is the biggest joy to reflect and mirror their magic back at them! ❤️

Monday reminder!!

10 years ago when I (Estee) was working at a yoga studio (and in a heavy depression and not wanting to be seen) one of my coworkers told me that I am the type of person who “makes everyone feel like a someone”

I’m sure my coworker doesn’t even remember saying it and yet it was profoundly impactful. Hearing those words reminded me of my goodness- at a time when I needed it most. AND IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY APPEARANCE OR BODY!!! I often think back to that compliment when I’m feeling low or that I have “nothing to offer” and it’s soothing to my soul.

The world is struggling right now, people are struggling right now… imagine if everyone shared their witnessed beauty with others (instead of criticism and pointing out flaws).

I had no idea that a casual comment 10 years ago was everything my system needed at the time (and still continues to need). Thinking about it now is like a much needed warm hug!

When you see something beautiful, magical or amazing in someone, say something! Your words (and YOU) are MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU KNOW❤️🙏

Recovery is a process of reconnecting and “finding” who we really are (beyond the noise, the ED and the inner critic).

MAN, IT CAN BE HARD andddd it is so worth it. You are so worth it! You are worth being found by yourself and others! Every kindness you show to yourself is a massive win that we celebrate with you!!! 🙌

You are and and worth finding, worth knowing and worth loving.

You are worth EVERYTHING! ❤️❤️❤️ You are exactly where you are supposed to be and you are handling life beautifully!

Interesting over here 😂

I’m cat-sitting the amazing cat and we are slowlyyyyy growing on each other. VERY slowly.

She’s really enjoying laying on my crotch and legs at any rate haha!

This was my yoga today! A lot of laying on my mat and I’m loving it ❤️

What is your today?? Just laying on your mat can be a HUGE win!!! I’m a huge fan of (ask my friend Sasha- she will tell you!)

Any move (literally or figuratively) to be in your body with love is something to be celebrated! I would be doing a celebratory dance if I didn’t have a cat 🐈 on me!

Love and Grits started a Body Image healing meetup group in Lisbon!

Are you in Portugal or Europe? Do you feel constantly uncomfortable in you skin? Do you think about food/ body a large percentage of your day? Are you seeking freedom around food and/ or body? Then this meet up group is for you!!!!

I (Estee) have found so much freedom and healing in groups and yoga and want to share it with the women of Lisbon (and Portugal).

This group will be a mix of processing, skill building, yoga and general empowerment! All women who struggle with emotions, food and/ or body image are invited to join and participate!

Happy July! strikes again!

Can we let ourselves BE in the uncertainty? we don’t have TO DO anything.

This is the absolute LAST thing my brain wants to do when I’m uncomfortable or distressed! Yet- it is the thing that brings me the most ☮️. Hand over heart and deep into this current moment.

Life is hard and terrible things are happening AND you still deserve peace, joy and amazing things. 🙏❤️

You deserve to just be here exactly as you are! It has been our experience that the more love and nourishment we give ourselves, the more we can give others 🙏❤️

Happy Tuesday!

Reminder that your eating disorder nightmare can become your recovery fantasy!!! It was mine yesterday 🙏❤️

* Exploring and navigating a new city
* Taking myself out to dinner (eating by myself at a restaurant!)
* Ordering whatever looked/ sounded good on the menu!
* Listening to my body and eating the whole thing 🍔
* Feeling full and GREAT after the meal!

Loving reminder that the food/ body freedom you are looking for is possible! Navigating Lisbon would have been a completely different (and much more painful) experience if I was still in my eating disorder.

When was the last time you took yourself out for a meal and ordered whatever you wanted- while feeling great about it!!!??

Today is great day to nourish yourself in whatever way possible!! We would love to hear about your experiences (and whatever you want to share with us!) 🙏❤️
