WE’VE GOT NEWS!

We’re beyond excited to share that we’ve been awarded a $600K STTR Phase I grant from the

This grant will help us push the boundaries of culturally-responsive mental health care for Asian Americans 💛 In partnership with Dr. Brian TaeHyuk Kim at , we will be developing innovative and clinically-validated digital tools that address cultural stressors often experienced by our communities in mental health treatments—like bicultural tension and race-based trauma.

With only a 15% success rate for this grant, this achievement is a huge honor. Considering that less than 0.2% of the NIH’s funding has historically focused on Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander health research, this milestone means so so much to us!

Now, let’s get to work 🚀

Whether you're taking the first step or continuing your journey, prioritizing your mental well-being is essential. Self-care is not selfish—it's necessary. 💛

Your mental health deserves attention and care just as much as your physical health. Start today, and remember, it's never too late to make positive changes. You deserve to feel your best, inside and out!

As we observe this July, let’s remember that mental health challenges do not discriminate. Every person, regardless of their skin color or cultural background, can struggle with their mental well-being. Yet, the stigma surrounding it is something we all face, and it can be especially intense for communities of color who are already dealing with prejudice and discrimination.

It’s crucial to recognize and support those facing these challenges, ensuring that no one feels alone or unworthy!

This is your weekend reminder to take a step back and ask yourself: are these really the things that matter in the grand scheme of things? Yes, it's easy to get caught up in deadlines and other inconveniences; instead, shift your focus to the things that truly deserve all the attention and energy: your mental and physical well-being, relationships with loved ones, your personal growth and fulfillment.

As the holidays approach, you might have noticed your motivation is not as high as a few months ago! Truth is, our daily lives have many stressors like work, school, finances, deadlines, and, on top of that, planning what you’re doing for the holidays (children of immigrants, we hear you 🫠).
However, we invite you to check in with yourself if you’re feeling burnt out. This scale can help you assess the severity of your burnout and we’ll be here when you’re ready to take action!

Don't get us wrong: setting goals, dreaming big, and working towards the future are all important. They give our lives purpose and direction!

As you begin your therapy experience, it's essential to be aware of some common mistakes that can hinder your progress. Here are a few to keep in mind 🤓

1. Not setting realistic expectations: Therapy is not a quick fix; it's a process, and it takes time and effort!

2. Holding back: trust and communication with your therapist are key to seeing progress.

3. Inconsistency: unless it's absolutely necessary, avoid skipping sessions! Consistency leads to better outcomes.

4. Relying solely on your therapist: collaboration is crucial. Your therapist is not supposed to solve your problems; instead, implement the strategies and insights gained in therapy into your daily life.

Remember, therapy is a transformative experience that requires your active participation and commitment. By avoiding these common mistakes, you can create a better environment for your healing and self-discovery.
