The weak man "forgives" quickly.
He wants others to think he’s virtuous, the bigger person, that he’s over it. But that’s just a lie he tells himself.
Forgiveness once meant something specific. It required a grievance and the ability to retaliate. Releasing the grievance was virtuous because you had the right and the ability to retaliate, and chose not to.
Now it means nothing because capacity is no longer required. It’s just a coping mechanism.
"I’ve chosen to let it go."
Yes, because you had no other choice. That is all.
A man who cannot attack is not virtuous for declining to attack. He is just a man who cannot attack.
